Town celebrates road improvements PDF Print E-mail

The Town of Flower Mound held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday celebrating the completion of the first phase of the Morriss/Gerault Road Improvement Project, which includes the new flyover ramp onto FM 2499.

Flower Mound Council Member Jean Levenick spoke at the event, along with Denton County Commissioners Bobbie Mitchell and Andy Eads.

Over the past several months, construction crews have worked to expand Morriss and Gerault to six lanes from FM 3040 to FM 2499, construct the flyover, made intersection and safety improvements, installed new sidewalks and widened most existing sidewalks to six feet, installed new fencing, and planted landscaping along the entire corridor, including 600 trees.

The town will also construct an entryway monument near the intersection of Gerault Road and FM 2499.

The project was funded through external revenue sources, including toll revenues, Denton County Roadway bond dollars, and developer contributions.

This is part of the county road bond program that will raise county property tax rates this year-2012. Wonderful, every citizen in Denton County gets to foot the bill for privacy fences along Morriss Road. That is good government. Thanks Andy Eads and Bobbie Mitchell!
