Jean Levenick will return to Flower Mound’s Town Council to sit in Tom Hayden's vacant seat.
Council members voted 4-0 at a special meeting last night to appoint Levenick to serve the remaining 11 months of the current Place 5 term after thorough deliberation and interviewing 13 candidates.
According to a press release issued by the town, Levenick rejoins the council with a strong record of supporting basic municipal services, recreational projects and programs, and local businesses. In addition, the release stated that she has expressed unwavering support for the current oil and gas ordinance and the pipeline ordinance, the Master Plan, and maintaining the town’s low tax rate.
“When interviewing for the appointment, I assured the council of my support and commitment to maintain the current oil and gas ordinances,” Levenick said. “It is clear each member of the council is unified in their support of these important ordinances.”
The press release states that during her pervious term on Town Council a few years ago, Levenick was instrumental in improving the town’s thoroughfare infrastructure, boosting public safety efforts, and attracting quality economic developments such as the town’s first hospital.
“Jean was an outstanding councilmember the first time around, and will be just as exceptional while serving in Place 5,” said Mayor Tom Hayden. “Her record of serving the community with a servant’s heart is impeccable and we all look forward to working with her to move Flower Mound into the future.”
A Flower Mound resident for 16 years, Levenick has been involved with several governmental organizations, from the local school district to the county level. Aside from serving on town council in Place 4 from 2008 to 2010, she has been an advocate for CASA of Denton County, a member of the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission, and a member of the Community Emergency Response Team.

Kudos to you Kim for taking action by running for public office in Arlington. There are not too many who could do what you did.
Ginger, thank you for speaking the truth at last night's Council meeting. Interesting that you brought up the Hatfields and McCoys, and you do have a hand in creating that environment within our community. To your defense, you were lied to about several things by misinformation and omission of the facts. It is sad that a former council member would do that to a group of concerned people--good people that were loyal friends to him--for his own political gain. It happens, though. Politics just stink.
Your apology seemed sincere and is accepted by many. You had the integrity to look Council in the eye and ask for their accountability. Thank you for expressing publicly what so many of us want to say, but are too tired to do at this time.
Please take care.
Good luck.
