After months of delays, lawsuits, redistricting fights, and rule changes, the long awaited Texas primary election is here and voters will head to the polls starting today to cast their ballots.

The primaries determine candidates for state, county, and national offices in this November's election.

At the top of the list for most Texas voters will be the race for the open U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. Also on the ballot are multiple seats, including the presidential primary, as well as county positions like sheriff, tax assessor/collector, district court judges and constables. The early voting period runs until May 25. Election Day is Tuesday, May 29.

Early voting dates and times:

May 14–18:  8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
May 19:  7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
May 20:  1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
May 21–25:  7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Before Election Day, voters can cast their ballot at a number of locations in southern Denton County, including:

-Argyle Town Hall, 308 Denton St. Argyle    
-Flower Mound Police and Municipal Court Building, 4150 Kirkpatrick, Flower Mound    
-Highland Village Municipal Complex, 1000 Highland Village Road, Highland Village    
-Justin Municipal Building, 415 N. College, Justin
-Lake Dallas City Hall, 212 Main Street, Lake Dallas    
-Lewisville Municipal Annex, 1197 W. Main Street, Lewisville

On Election Day, you must vote at the location where your precinct is assigned. New voter registration cards were mailed out late last week.
