Longtime Mayor Ron Robertson, along with Jim Farrell and Gracie Egan's council terms are up on May 12. Both Mayor Robertson and Place 2 Councilman Farrell will run unopposed. This will be Robertson's sixth term in office and Farrell's second.

Jim Strange is challenging Egan's bid for a second term in Place 4.

Residents can also participate in a local option election that if successful, would allow the sale of liquor for off-premise consumption in town.

The Cross Timbers Gazette asked each candidate in a contested race to answer a short questionnaire to help you make an informed decision at the polls.  Here are their responses:

Why should you be re-elected? I have lived in Bartonville for 12 years. I have been on Town Council for 2 years. While on Town Council I have worked for and will continue to: maintain our low tax rate, maintain a fiscally responsible approach to the town budget and funds, protect our rural atmosphere

To what religious and civic organizations do you belong?   The Church at the Cross – Grapevine, other organizations, I have worked for many and enjoyed every moment. From working street missions in Fort Worth, to Habitat for Humanity, Bartonville Planning and Zoning Commission, serving many long hours  during the  Super Bowl XLV, contributor and supporter of Iglesia Aposento Alto – Grapevine, to teaching English as Second Language for 7 years in Grapevine, remodeling and painting Genesis Woman’s Shelter in Dallas, Dallas Salvation Army food line, Bill Glass prison ministries, volunteering at Grace donation station, Real Choices Grapevine and supporting many many other worthwhile causes.

Why should you be elected? I am here to serve. To serve my neighbors, our fellow citizens and to make our town a better place than when each of us had the opportunity to join the Bartonville family.

What are the main challenges facing your town/district, and how would you resolve them? To keep rural township alive and thriving, yet not so blindly that we do not keep pace with and ahead of real world obstacles that seem to be tossed our way. To keep our families healthy, and safe. My lovely wife, two sons and I have had the honor to live in a number of cities around most of the Country and travel the remainder. Meeting and getting to know literally thousands of people across America. And I say with a great deal of confidence, Bartonville is a Hometown community. And I want to work with you to keep it “Our Hometown”.
