Flower Mound council to unveil design for new community playground PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 19 April 2012 06:56

The Flower Mound Town Council will approve the official design of Fort Wildflower, the town’s first community-built playground, during a work session at 6 p.m. tonight, April 19, at Town Hall, 2121 Cross Timbers Rd.

During the meeting, the town’s playground design firm will present a unique proposed plan for Fort Wildflower, tailor-made for the community, according to town officials.

The playground will be located in The Heritage Park of Flower Mound, the town’s upcoming 94-acre signature park, located at the northwest corner of Garden Ridge Boulevard and Spinks Road. Refreshments will be served after the work session in celebration of the project.

In February, town staff and the design team visited Flower Mound elementary schools and gathered more than 500 ideas from some of Flower Mound’s youngest residents, who are also playground enthusiasts. Hundreds of volunteers will make this dream a reality for children of all abilities in September.

A playground steering committee has already initiated fundraising efforts and will continue to help spread the word about the community project.
