The Highland Village Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man wanted for questioning in connection to a retail business burglary.

Police said that the Brilliant Sky Toys & Books store in The Shops at Highland Village was broken into on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 23rd, between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m.

Entry was gained via the back door of the business and over $1,000 cash was taken from the store’s safe and cash register.

The suspect, captured on surveillance video, is described as a white male, 40-45 years old, approximately 5' 10" to 6 '0" tall, weighing 210-230 pounds, with grayish brown hair short on the sides and back and parted on the right.  The man was wearing light colored blue jeans with tennis shoes, a blue ballcap, and a blue golf-style pullover windbreaker. He appeared to have covered his face with a white "Gaiter" while committing the burglary and traveling to and from his vehicle.

The man was driving a late model white Cadillac STS or CTS four door vehicle with a raised spoiler on the trunk lid.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the man is urged to call Detective Doug Bell at 972-317-6551 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . All tips will remain confidential.

The case against the perpetrator of this crime, Scott Comer, was finally adjudicated, more than a year after his arrest. The judgement --- PROBATION! This guy was on 5yrs deferred adjudication already for a 2nd Degree Burglary conviction in Oklahoma. This deferred sentence doesn't expire until 4/2013. This is not my idea of justice. This guy obviously has no moral boundaries, as he was robbing a toy store just before Christmas. Bah humbug!

The guy evidently has a history of this kind of activity. If you look him up on Denton County's website, you'll see that his has another warrant in Cedar Hill, and THREE(3) for Collin County, including another burglary. The guy is a loser, especially given that he has left his wife, and three special needs kinds in a terrible predicament.

This is just crazy! I work with the guy arrested for this. If he DID do it, this is a surprise for us since he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would ever do something like this.

On February 16, 2011 HVPD Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Scott Comer of Fort Worth for Burglary of a Building. Investigators were able to identify Comer as the suspect responsible for the business burglary at the Shops at Highland Village last December. He is also a suspect in string of other burglaries around the Metroplex. Comer was arrested and booked into the Highland Village PD Jail on 2/17/11 and later transferred to the Denton Co Jail.
