Cherokee Horn concludes operations in Flower Mound PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 03 September 2010 16:03

After over two years in Flower Mound, Cherokee Horn Production announced that they will be closing their Flower Mound field office this Sunday evening.

“With the Town of Flower Mound issuing a drilling permit on Hilliard, and almost all the leasing work completed for our Flower Mound and Lewisville projects, our work in these areas is done. We are moving on to pursue other projects. It is time for Titan Operating to take over and begin drilling operations,” said Field Claytor, Land Manager for Cherokee Horn.

The Town of Flower Mound approved and granted the drilling permit for the Hilliard Airfield site on August 26th.  Titan has 60 days to initiate drilling on the Hilliard site, unless they are able to get an extension from the Town of Flower Mound.

When asked about the current status of leasing activity, Claytor went on to say, “We have taken over 1,723 leases in Flower Mound and 9,000 leases in Lewisville. We are over 82.7% leased in the Hilliard area and well over 92% in our Lewisville projects.”

Claytor said, “After September 5th, Cherokee Horn will no longer be able to accept new leases in our Flower Mound and Lewisville projects so those people who wish to receive royalty income when drilling begins need to sign before the deadline. We are dealing with a surge in leasing activity leading up to this deadline and are working hard to accommodate the needs of all the mineral owners who wish to lease.”

The mineral owners who elect not to sign leases in the Hilliard area will not receive any bonus payment or royalty income, Cherokee Horn officials said.

Cherokee Horn and Titan have a large enough leasehold saturation that they will not have to “force pool” any mineral owners. Force pooling allows an operator to drill underneath an unleased mineral interest, however in a force pooling situation those unleased owners receive a royalty payment of 20% to 25% when the well begins producing and then will back in for the remaining 70% to 75% after the operator has recouped their investment. Since Titan will be able to drill around the unleased owners, they are not obligated to pay the mineral owners anything.

“This is what we’ve been telling the mineral owners for a long time. There is a lot of misinformation out there and we are constantly trying to counteract. We want people to know that they have a choice but if they choose never to lease then they are foregoing any financial gain they could hope to receive from their mineral interest,” Claytor said

Cherokee Horn’s field office is located at 1011 Surrey Ln., Bldg 100, Ste. 201 in Flower Mound and their phone number is 972-539-1412.

Congrats FloMo Cares on the Channel 8 spot. But, Guess What? You blew it!! You got the greatly needed air time so that you could spread the word about your concerns about the Hilliard drilling site. Every person that you brought to the Flower Mound Cares Blog saw nothing but ridiculous, juvenile jokes. You drew on the opponents photos and wrote jokes about it. JUVENILE. How do you expect anyone to listen to you or respect anything you have to say when they see immature banter. Try posting facts, figures and respectable rhetoric that shows that you actually care about your children and their community.
PS
Dear Mr. Biro, Hatred is not funny! We learned that in the third grade. Challenge yourself and try to write something positive and witty instead of hateful and witty.

Quoting be careful:
if you have not signed, please be careful. they are trying everything possible to corner you into signing away your rights. gas is near an all time low. there are big pockets they do not have signed, and currently can only drill a few wells (not the 20-24 they want to) with the current signed leases. if they try to force pool there will be an opportunity to protest at the texas railroad commission level. they will send you a letter of opportunity and give you 30 days to respond. you have legal rights, please use them!

I keep hearing from CH that they do not need to force pool, that they have enough leases to drill anyways. I hear from the anti's that they can't drill within 330 ft of your house if you don't sign and that they must force pool to drill at all. What is the truth? Does someone have a link to a lawyer's opinion or a court case or TRC statutes or texas law that settles this?? I haven't signed yet.

Quoting LMAO:
Cue the offensive remarks from the FM Scares clique in 3, 2, 1......

Right, this coming from a group of people who's most vocal member was Shiloh Chris. Don't you DARE call us wack, that guy was certifiable.

Um, no. There is no "group" that Shilo Chris can be a "member" of, and nobody called you "wack" (sic)

Just callin' the play (or predicting, rather) as I see it.

Todd,
Do the Math?
Your post is by far the funniest one out of all of these. Please know what exactly it is that you’re protesting.

Todd, its not 82.7% leased in on ALL of Flower Mound buddy.. Its 82.7% leased inside their targeted pooling unit, which is only a mere 640 acres and not the entire City.. Please educate yourself before I die of laughter.

On the Flower Mound Cares facebook page one person wrote “stopped in the cherokee horn offices today and studied the current map showing lots that were leased and unleased.” If this company is so perverted, why would they welcome a protester to visit their office and study their documents or maps? Would any of the anti-folks allow them the same access?
Another person wrote “@ the FMHS Football game, they announced, "Williams Gas Co. Supports the Flower Mound Jaguars" and another person responded “I hope there was a loud round of BOO's.” Was it cheers or boos that was heard when the announcement was made?
It seems there is no room for civility.

Finally the boys over at Cherokee Horn are doing the smart thing…getting out of town BEFORE drilling starts on Hillard Field. If I were them, I wouldn’t want to stick around and answer questions when all the fun begins either!

Why hang around Flo Mo? Plenty of other towns to deceive and foul!

Laughing at someone who calls out people who use their real name in what they do they go hide under their blanket. My 3 year old does the same thing. I don't agree with a lot of what they said, but at least they aren't afraid to use their real names in doing it. More than can be said for you.

Just another false propaganda by desperate Cherokee Horn to get the unleased owners. Their claims are questionable and modus operations susceptible. Search them on internet ,they have deceived numerous lease owners.
Most people are regretting signing their leases and I bet CH don't give a choice to cancel/terminate the lease.

For over two years, FM residents have worked to stop gas drilling in FM. "Stop Urban Gas Drilling" and the NFL through false petitions, propaganda, and smear tactics have convinced us that we can and have changed the laws of gas drilling in TX. Cherokee Horn and Williams have been called liars and bottom feeders. In the meantime, some of our elected officials through back room meetings, have negotiated over 30 gas well permits since our town election, including the Hillard sight on 2499. Cherokee Horn has leased over 80% of the land adjacent to the Hillard sight. Becky, Larry, Virginia, Ladd, Ginger, Amy, Prakash, Jennifer, NFL, through your arrogance, we have been USED! Over thirty gas wells? Who are the LIARS? For the past two years, I have thought that gas wells would be the end of FM, now after looking at all facts, we now know that the only bad air quality is the hot air coming out of your mouths!
