Local sisters Barbara Apt and Lisa Sheehan will appear on a new Food Network show where aspiring restaurateurs battle to prove they have what it takes to open their own restaurant.

Apt, a food services sales account manager from Lantana, and Lisa Sheehan, an Argyle restaurant equipment sales representative, will combine their culinary backgrounds and take on a team from Chicago on '24 Hour Restaurant Battle', which will air on Wednesday, July 28, at 9:00 p.m.

Hosted by renowned chef Scott Conant, each episode of '24 Hour Restaurant Battle' features dueling two-person teams of aspiring restaurateurs who have 24 hours to conceive, plan and open their own restaurants for one night.

Once the doors are open, actual diners will be served and a panel of restaurant experts will judge to see which team showed the most potential for running a successful restaurant. The winner will walk away with $10,000 seed money to help them actualize their dream.

Apt, who had auditioned last summer for 'The Next Food Network Star', said that she found out about the show after receiving an e-mail from the network.

"I knew right away when they were looking for teams of two, one front of the house, one back of the house, that the show could be perfect for my sister Lisa and me. She has over 20 years of restaurant experience," said Apt.

"We flew to the open casting call in DC and found out a few weeks later we had been picked for the show!”

Apt said that she and her sister had a great time on the show, despite the stress of competing on camera.

“I loved the experience. I will admit, it was quite a challenge to complete the task of opening a restaurant in 24 hours. We experienced so many emotions during the taping: we laughed and we cried. But ultimately, being able to experience the show with my sister Lisa was really special.”
