Violent fugitive Alberto Morales was shot and killed by police early Saturday morning, ending a four-day manhunt.
Around 10:35 p.m. Friday the Grapevine Police Department received a report of a home burglary in the 2100 block of Forest Hills Rd. Officers at the scene learned that men's clothing and jewelry were taken.
Members of the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force, Miami-Dade Police Department and Grapevine Police Department saturated the area of Lake View Park on the south side of Lake Grapevine.
With the assistance of a Fort Worth Police Department Helicopter, Morales was spotted around 12:25 a.m. in a wooded area near the 2200 Block of Lake Ridge Dr., not far from the home that had been broken into.
Officers chased Morales on foot before fatally shooting him as they attempted to apprehend him.
Morales, 42, had a long rap sheet that included kidnapping with a weapon, aggravated battery and sexual battery with a deadly weapon.
The community has been on edge since Morales escaped from the custody of Miami detectives Monday night in Grapevine while being transferred across the country.
Flower Mound police spent several hours Thursday searching an area near Bakersfield Park after a passing motorist said they saw someone that looked like Morales.

1. Why was deadly force used? I didn't read anything indicating that he brandished ANY form of weapon.
2. How on earth did the keystone cop allow the fugitive to stab him with sunglasses? I bet he feels awfully foolish.
