Chuck Springer, Flower Mound's Assistant Town Manager/Chief Financial Officer, is leaving the town to take the position of Director of Finance for the City of Denton.

Springer began his career in Flower Mound as an Administrative Intern then as an Assistant to the Town Manager, rising through the ranks to become the Assistant Town Manager in 1985. He then served eighteen years as the Cash and Debt Administrator and Treasury Manager for the City of Arlington. Springer returned to Flower Mound as the Chief Financial Officer in 2006, becoming the Assistant Town Manager/CFO in 2008.

Springer served as Flower Mound's interim town manager from October through early January during a search to replace Town Manager Harlan Jefferson.

Jimmy Stathatos, former City Manager of Roanoke recently assumed the role of Flower Mound’s Town Manager.

In his new position, Springer will oversee the city's accounting, financial reporting, purchasing, warehouse services, budgeting, municipal court, customer service, debt and treasury management functions.

“Mr. Springer has had an outstanding career in the cities of Arlington and Flower Mound, and during his career, he has consistently demonstrated a strong understanding of municipal finance issues,” said Denton City Manager George Campbell.  “We are excited to have someone of Mr. Springer’s caliber join the City of Denton team as our next Director of Finance.”

Springer will begin his new position on February 11.
