Flower Mound police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Tuesday in the parking lot of the S & S Convenience Store at FM 3040 and Garden Ridge.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday found Lamont Darnell White, 54, of Justin with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to his head, sitting inside a white Mazda sedan in the parking lot facing Garden Ridge.

White was transported by CareFlite helicopter to Methodist Dallas Medical Center in critical condition. He was pronounced dead Wednesday morning.

"It wasn't a random shooting," said Flower Mound police Capt. Kurt Labhart on Wednesday. "Our belief is that the victim had some sort of affiliation with the suspect, what that is we don't know yet."

Media reports Wednesday morning said that White worked at a Target store in Lewisville and was headed home to Justin when he stopped in front of the Donut Plaza next to the gas station.

Police are investigating leads to identify the shooter and requesting anyone with information about the crime to call 972-539-0525 or the Anonymous Crime Tip Line at 972-874-3307.
