Watch with an open mind.

Technology has become a very useful tool to those who would rob us of our freedom.

I am no Luddite, but I recognize the threat to liberty that modern technology presents.

Resist. Fight. Postpone. Harrass. Do whatever you can to prevent the installation of this technology in your home.

Big Brother is watching you. Fight back now before it is too late.

CoServ and other electrical companies should have an opt-out program. No one should be forced to do anything or to allow individuals to collect data of any form on them unless granted permission. Contact your local state representative and ask them to require electrical companies to provide customers with an opt-out option.

Here is an article which includes interesting readers' opinions:

Technology sounds great, but they can also become invasive. Please read these articles to get an idea of how much data can be obtained through technology or if someone has been granted a gateway into the technology in their home.

CoServ might not be "sharing data" at the current moment, but if an individual has the capablity to link into your home and obtain data it might become hard to resist especially if the price is right or the incentive great enough.

Can't you opt-out by cancelling your CoServ service?

Is anyone really forcing you to live in a "smart meter area" plus forcing you to be on the grid?

I'm surprised that CCR is even on the Internet and on this forum. You know, people are watching... and so is google.

Unfortunately, some areas only have one electrical company provider. CoServ is converting all their customers regardless.

I'm just curious Al, do you really believe your postings and emails are not being monitored???

I knew some people believe mankind did not actually landed on the moon, but I did not think you were one of them.

Of course the government is monitoring our communications, it is there way of "protecting" us.

Don't forget our own government declared the men and women in our military returning home to be terrorists. They also declared anyone who has a different view of the current administration policy on immigration or abortion to be terrorists too. Just because one does not agree with the administration, it does not make them a terrorist; however, this has become the current mind set. If you do not agree with the administration's philosophy you are either a terrorist or crazy.

Good.

That's interesting... I must have missed that.

I missed that as well. I suggest a better source for your news.

By the way, did you know that most vehicles have 'black boxes' in them that record your speed, whether you had your seatbelt on at the time of a crash, whether the brakes were applied, etc... ?

So there's a law that you have to be connected to "the grid"? I didn't know that... what law?

If you're interested in discussing laws, find a lawyer; I just answered your question. :)

I think you are confusing my point. If you want to buy energy in a CoServ area, then yes, it has to be CoServ, but I'm not aware of not being able to choose not to buy energy from a provider... in which case, one can go without such energy or generate their own somehow (solar with battery backup?)... it sounds like it might be a good choice for the overly paranoid.

For those of us that realize having electricity is a good thing, and don't live in a desert, do you know of a power generation device that can generate enough for a home and be compliant with local ordinances? I think the obvious next element to consider is financial feasibility.....but I understand we're not being realistic here, we're considering the urban doomsday, sky is falling, fear the man, survivalist types. Those that will actually survive without grocery stores and Starbucks while living under the radar/off the grid, surviving in their Toll Brothers "Hill Country" model home without power or public water. :D

i think you can go off the grid and then you won't be monitored, a few solar panels, like the entire roof and a garageful of batteries should be sufficient.

You are not only a foolish man, Al, you are not paying attention. If you missed the gubmint's accusing our returning military veterans as being potential terrorists, you are DEFINITELY not paying attention. Some links so you will not MISS important information about your now-demonic government:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAygnB-xQCY

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/200 ... /?page=all

http://www.infowars.com/lawyer-20-more- ... b-ongoing/

And if you do not know that your government (the NSA specifically) is recording emails, postings, telephone conversations, etc. then you are also not paying attention and are living in a happy world filled with Unicorns that poop Skittles, and all is rainbows and butterflies. Some further reading on that unfortunate subject:

http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/0 ... atacenter/

In fact, Al, if you have a conversation on a public bus in much of the country, not only will you be filmed, you will also have anything you say recorded. If you do not believe me, read this:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/kashmirhill ... ive-years/

Al, pull your head out of the end of your alimentary canal and pay attention. Things are going off track really fast and you refuse to see things as they really are.

There is a word for German Jews who refused to believe the reality that was enveloping them and who refused to leave Germany for safer climes. That word is ASHES.

Pay attention Al. This is serious. Let go your normalcy bias.

Pay attention - all of you reading.

It can be done, but it takes more than just a "few" solar panels, and one must use batteries to store the energy, and that can be a challenge if one wants to run an electric dryer, a toaster, a hot water heater, or an electric source of heat or Air conditioning.

Keeping batteries sufficiently cool is also a challenge in our climate during the hot months.

A back up generator that runs on diesel or natural gas / propane would be necessary. And that could cause trouble with the neighbors and the town gubmint.

I am sure that in Copper Canyon the Mayor (aka Her Highness) would find a way to prevent folks from having their own power generation set up - unless one is a member of the Town Council. Then it would be just fine.
