2012 Energy Summit & Fair

Postby admin » Sat Jul 07, 2012 1:03 am

Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (TX-26) has announced that
on Saturday, July 14, he will host the 2012 Energy Summit & Fair at the University
of North Texas' Business Leadership Building. Local and state officials, as well as
industry experts and businesses, will attend and speak at the summit and will
highlight steps North Texans can take to become more energy efficient while saving
on their energy costs.

The summit will feature two panels, the first will focus on ways to save energy in
design and construction of buildings and houses, and the second will discuss energy
efficiency and conservation for mobility. Texas Railroad Commissioner David J.
Porter will serve as the keynote speaker. The summit will also feature a fair with
booths providing energy-related information and resources. There will also be
efficient vehicles on display.

"We must all do our part to become more energy efficient and strive for an energy
independent America," Dr. Burgess said. "I invite you to join me as I bring
together experts to discuss our country's energy agenda, including the future of
energy in America, ways Texas has lead the nation in many types of renewable
energies, and how recent federal policies will impact Texas."

Wait a sec... isn't this the same Burgess that wants to bring back energy-wasting 100 watt incandescent bulbs?

 is right. Ya, America will fail because of a light bulb, that was/is used primarily only in special applications, like Easy Bake Ovens.

Wow... must be a lot more Easy Bake Ovens around than I thought.

Good thing Burgess is thinking about all those people with Easy Bake Ovens.

How many household light fixtures take 100 watt bulbs, or don't have a warning with a 60 watt limit?

The point is, 100 watt bulbs are a pretty light/limited use bulb. In other words, little to no threat to earth. :D

A few, but probably not many, though we have a ceiling fan that needs a "100 watter" or there's not enough light. I just use the more energy-efficient incandescent halogen bulbs which only use 72 watts but give the light of an old 100 watt bulb.

Or, in other words, no big deal if they are no longer available.

My original point was that Burgess is touting energy-efficiency while also touting energy-inefficiency at the same time... but I guess the GOP is use to that type of 'dual-personality'. :D

And there we have it, success on dragging out the real point you're trying to make with every topic you can.

I'm waiting with bated breath to see how you do it with the Potty Talk thread.

I didn't realize my points were that difficult to see... oh wait, there's a reading comprehension problem on this forum so I can understand that it might be difficult for some to get my points.

Why? Does Burgess tout about water conservation while also supporting the wasting of water? Does he want to go backwards on water conservation? I wouldn't be surprised. :D
