Did anybody notice the sign near the soccer fields saying there will be only one lane of traffic on 407 in that area between December 18th and 23rd, I believe, and to expect delays? Should be interesting.

I believe it's only over night when they start pouring concrete on the new north side lanes, similar to what they did on the section of 407 between Briarhill Blvd and Chin Chapel.. but I could be wrong.

FM 407 LANE CLOSURE UPDATE

Lane Construction has notified us that they will begin concrete paving operations from Lantana Trail to Jernigan Road on December 18th. During the paving, only one lane will be open and flagmen will be present. Paving will continue until December 22nd. After December 22nd, there will be no paving during the holidays —concrete paving will resume on January 2nd.

Lane Construction is also making good progress on the reconstruction of
FM 407 from Chin Chapel to FM 1830 even though the weather has been
challenging. They have completed the drainage structure on the northbound
side and associated guard rails where Loving Branch crosses FM
407. They have completed paving the majority of the northbound lanes
from Loving Branch through the “S” curve realignment at FM 1830.
Bentson Drive is closed at FM 407 for approximately 3 more weeks to
facilitate the reconstruction of the intersection. They are currently
installing the sidewalk on the East side of the road adjacent to Lantana.
They have completed grading and stabilization of the West bound lanes
from Lantana Trail to Chin Chapel. Steel is currently being tied and
paving of the area has been completed between Lantana Trail and
Copper Canyon Rd. Paving from Copper Canyon Rd to Chin Chapel will
continue for the next couple of weeks when weather allows. Paving
operations run from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Saturday and
traffic is limited to one lane, in alternating directions. Excessive backups
are anticipated and drivers should avoid traveling the roadway if possible
during this timeframe. The entire project is anticipated to be completed in
approximately 14 months. However, the contractor is currently slightly
ahead of schedule.

Lane closure on FM 407 on Saturday just east of Copper Canyon starting at 8:00am until around 5:00 pm. I would expect long delays.

Do we know of any updates about when Bentson might be re-opened?

FM 407 will have a lane closure starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. It will last until approximately 2:00 pm. Expect long delays. Use McMakin or Orchid Hill.

Paving of the Bentson Drive entrance to Magnolia Addition off of FM 407 should be completed by February 19, 2013. The road is scheduled to be reopened to traffic on February 26th.

They are currently installing the sidewalk on the East side of the road adjacent to Lantana. They have completed paving the majority of the westbound lanes from Lantana Trail to Chin Chapel. Traffic should be rerouted onto the new pavement within the next few weeks to facilitate construction of the eastbound lanes. The entire project is anticipated to be completed in approximately 13 months. However, the contractor is currently slightly ahead of schedule.

The Town of Double Oak has been notified and asked by the FM407 contractor to communicate the following  traffic advisory:

On Friday morning (04/05/13) at 9:00am (Double Oak Portion) the East/West traffic on FM407 will be switched to the new lanes on the north side of 407. Once traffic is switched, the old road (south side) will be milled down and re-graded so that it’s even with the new surface to the north. Unfortunately because of the drop off between the new and old road surface, Cedarcrest Lane will be closed for a few hours this Friday while they lower the old surface. Once both sides of FM407 are even again, cars can begin accessing 407 from both Cedarcrest Lane and Tanglewood Drive. Flagmen will be present at the intersection of FM 407 and Tanglewood Drive during the temporary Cedarcrest closure on Friday morning to assist motorists with the detour. BE ADVISED: SIMMONS ROAD WILL BE CLOSED FROM TIMBERLEAF DRIVE NORTHBOUND TO FM 407 ON FRIDAY 04-05-13 FOR 60-90 DAYS FOR REALIGNMENT AND RECONSTRUCTION.

DETOUR INFO FOR THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF CEDARCREST ON FRIDAY MORNING 04-05-13: The temporary detour plan will be to close Cedarcrest Lane just north of Timeberleaf Drive while the old road is lowered to meet the new surface level. A detour will be marked sending traffic along Timberleaf Drive, Forest Park Lane, Maple Leaf Drive and out/in on Tanglewood. Again this is only for Friday, but remember that Simmons will remain closed until its completely finished.

DETOUR INFO FOR SIMMONS ROAD/FM 407 INTERSETION RECONSTRUCTION: We have been informed by the contractor that Simmons Road will be closed from Timberleaf Drive up to FM 407 for 60-90 days while the drainage and road surface are reconstructed. This will detour vehicles along Timberleaf Drive to Cedarcrest Lane. Signs will be posted to assist motorists.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF PROJECT CONSTRUCTION WORKERS AND FOLLOW THEIR DIRECTION AND OBEY POSTED SPEED LIMIT.

THE DOUBLE OAK POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL BE PRESENT WITHIN THE DETOUR ROUTE AND STRICTLY ENFORCING THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY.

Has anyone been made aware of the new sightlines at FM407 and Rayzor Rd. after the lane switches. If you are attempting to turn south on 407 from Rayzor Rd. There's a huge Hill/embankment to the right not allowing a clear view of traffic coming from that direction. Has anyone else noticed this or know of any plans to clear it out?

Lane Construction is making good progress on the reconstruction of FM 407 from Chinn Chapel to FM 1830. Westbound traffic has been switched to the new paving from Rayzor Road to Hilltop Road and from Chinn Chapel to Lantana Trail. Construction of the eastbound lanes is ongoing. They are making good progress on the last section of the box culvert structure at Loving Branch Creek and have also completed subgrade stabilization from the Loving Branch Creek crossing up to Hilltop. Asphalt subgrade should commence within the next few days and paving will follow. The entire project is anticipated to be completed in approximately 10 months. However, the contractor is currently slightly ahead of schedule.
