For the most part people should have no issues.

If you do have issues, you can change your dns server ip's to 4.2.2.4 and 4.2.2.5 or if you know a bit more stick that into your router, and point to your router for DNS.

Now here's the juicy part. If your ISP does not support DNSSEC this likely means they're intercepting your dns requests and for things that would normally return page not found, gets rewritten to send your browser to a search page. The problem is that you dont know who vetted those ad's and you can get hit with malware. Best to use a dns provider that does not do this.

Chicken little. Yawn. Just like the Y2K problem. It got fixed. If it didn't get fixed, you're not supposed to be in business anymore.

I believe it was a case of TMI - better not to hear about things from the techies that one won't understand. Nothing was unusual that day.

I just read something about July 9th. Same thing? Says some people might not be able to access the internet that day - malware?

Interesting...

Malware may knock thousands off Internet on Monday

I suppose those still infected might loose their connection, according to the above.

Now THAT'S common sense.

I still have malwarebytes on my computer, and all my scans came up clean.

Re: Warning: Why Your Internet Might Fail This Sunday

"The Dallas Morning News" ran a story yesterday recommending that users visit dewg.org to run a quick check on your computer for malware. The government is planning on shutting down the temporary servers at 11:01 p.m. (EST?) Sunday. Does not appear to be a huge threat since the government is estimating 277,000 computers worldwide, but better safe than sorry.
