If the fees could be imposed by the FWSD to the homeowners instead of the HOA then you could deduct them.

Thanks Richard.

If we join the ESD, then our rate would be higher: .091648 vs. .059318

Kinda reminds me of Beka (sp?) the FWSD candidate falsely harping about how the FWSD board is keeping everything a secret. :D Whatever...

ruh roh...the folks on LantanaLive are now calling for a Tea Party to rid us of this new charge.

It is interesting that so many people on that site were not aware of this assessment. Guess we need to remind them to also visit us every now and then.

Either that or just read their mail from the HOA. It's sent for a reason.

But this tea party stuff sounds interesting/entertaining... I need to go over there and see what people are talking about. :)

I went over there and couldn't believe what they are saying. I wish someone would set them straight on some of their "facts." For one, some think the elections on Saturday are for the HOA. As we all know, they are for the Fresh Water Districts. They also refer to our "Denton County Councilperson," which I'm not sure who they mean. I don't think they are talking about Andy Eads, one of the Denton County Commissioners, and they say this person sells and lists real estate in Lantana. Is this a blind reference to Donna? If so, they are really misinformed. I hope this misunderstanding about the EMS/Fire assessment does not taint the upcoming elections for the Water Districts. It's regrettable that the bills came out just before the elections and that many people are confused. I get the feeling that a lot of folks will go vote for the challenger in District 6 based on what they read on the other site, and I sure hope that is not the case. I haven't voted yet, but I will be voting for Max and Donna.

Uninformed, misinformed and deceived voters are all the rage. It started with the 2009 national elections and now Lantana and Flower Mound. :D

Just out of curiosity, has anyone seen the total bill for what we are being charged? Why is our HOA collecting taxes?

The annual Fire/EMS Assessment statements are arriving in mailboxes and comments are popping up on the web, such as...

"Please forgive my egnorence but why are we being charged $142.65 for Fire/EMS Assessment? Is this not covered in our extremely high taxes or extremely high HOA fees? Thanks in advance for your response!"

"Any one else get their Fire/EMS Assessment bills? They are outrageous! This is criminal! This should be part of the high taxes and not part of a HOA. Anyone else feel this way? They have tripled in cost over the past 3 years!"

$142/year? That's less than a dollar a day for peace of mind....
I finally found an avatar that works!

My payment just went out today. It seemed the address they wanted the payments sent to was not the address I had been sending the regular HOA payments too.

Of course I wish it was included in the taxes we already pay... but I don't think it's criminal  . I wish the other taxes were as "cheap".

I so want to jump on the HOA website and try to explain this assessment to the confused residents but I don't have the time or energy. I'll leave it for Bruce to set them straight.
