Texas, Amazon agree on sales taxes, says statement from Combs’ office

According to the agreement between the Comptroller of Public Accounts and Amazon, the Company plans over the next four years to create at least 2,500 jobs and make at least $200 million in capital investments in the state and will begin to collect and remit Texas sales tax on July 1, 2012. The agreement resolves all sales tax issues between Texas and Amazon.

Well dog poop!!

Kinda dilutes the value of a Prime Account.

Lately Amazon hasn't had the best prices on a number of things I've wanted to buy. But their Prime Video service was a nice little sweetener.

i just liked that it was easy, and fast shipping, after getting prime I usually got my stuff in one or two days, if you buy from newegg, it's usually a week unless you pay a lot more money, I do get impatient, not hours but days, but not weeks.

I got Shoprunner for fast Newegg delivery. When I canceled shoprunner after the trail period, they offered me a year free. :)

You have to still watch out. When I ordered a computer case, that wasn't eligible for Shoprunner. :( Guess they didn't want to pay for the 35-lb package. :D

It still annoys me that on Amazon I can buy the same article sometimes for a few dollars less from a non-prime vendor. But then I have to pay shipping. Which tells me that indirectly I'm paying for shipping even if I'm a Prime member. Next time I see an example, I'll post it here.

I use http://camelcamelcamel.com to track Amazon prices since Amazon can change them a lot (annoying). You can put in alerts to let you know when an item hits your price target so you can then buy it at the lower price.

The easiest way to track an item is to copy & paste the ASIN number from the Amazon.com product page into camelcamelcamel.

As promised, it didn't take long to find something where Amazon is way too expensive.

Wanted to buy some nail brushes (Pipeline, shut up!).

On Amazon there are two choices:
- The Mash Dual surface brush with one review. $3.50 after $2.49 savings and Prime eligible.
- The Tweezerman dual surface brush with 55 reviews. Also $3.50 after savings of $2.77, but not prime eligible, which adds $6.91 per item shipping costs.

The Tweezerman is available on drugstore.com for $4.00 each and eligible for 2-day delivery with Shoprunner at no extra charge.

Easy choice.

I make no judgements, yet. But nailbrushes for a dude, makes me a wee bit nervous.

hey do they usually ship out quickly with shoprunner stuff? because that's the same price as amazon prime. so I might switch to that... but not if they take 4 days to ship and then 2 more days to get to my house.
