If you de-horn cattle because you enjoy watching them suffer, then that's abuse... but if there is a justifiable reason other than "having fun", then it's not abuse.
Make sense?
Now go be a good steward of the earth and all of its creatures
Pasty-white city boy, if ever I hear of one!
Yeah, cattle are dehorned to prevent other cattle (that is, money on the hoof) from being damaged.
It has nothing to do with having fun. No clue where that came from. Life in the real world is rough and hard. Something you don't understand, from what I understand.
Put down your key board and learn what it takes to feed folks, you soft- software engineer.
I reckon folks are all atwitter about the lion spending a few hours in a cage. Who cares!
That lion would gladly use his jaw to crack open any of our skulls with one crack, and then lick up what remained of our brains in the lovely white bowl that was our cranium. I am thankful we are at the top of the food chain. That a lion spent a few hours in a cage means NOTHING!
As I pointed out in an earlier post, I spend many hours sitting in a much worse position in coach on US air carrier's flights. The lion did not suffer. If you think so, please prove it.
I suspect that what is really the bottom of the controversy is the religious affiliation of the church that set up this drama.
I have no dog in this fight. If anything, that particular faith has been a source of great irritation to me over the course of my life, but the attacks on that church with is a bunch of nothing is more than I can bear.
To hell with that damned big cat. If we can wedge myriad cows, sheep, pigs, etc. into the slaughterman's clutches, why in the world are we whining about a lion who had to spend a few hours in a cage at a church? It makes no sense to me, unless religious bigotry is the underlying reason for all the complaints.
I know, I whine about the LDS's grinning idiots who come to my door trying to convince me that my native ancestors were decendents of the lost tribe of Israel (to which genetics and linguistics and common sense call BS!), and I guess that makes me a bigot too, but then again, not so much. I have no patience with idiocy. The facts prove otherwise. Please do not disturb me and please leave me and my househould in peace.
Please also do not push the Baptist faith on me and my fellow Texans and cause us to be unable to buy alcoholic beverages on Sunday. I do not follow your faith, and would appreciate it very much if you would leave me to live my life according to my own religious beliefs.
But also do not whine about a big cat with a big appetite in a cage. It is not a form of torture.
This is just a politically correct tempest in a teacup.
