I always thought 911 was for "life/death" emergencies and more serious stuff (car accidents/fires/etc)... so the sheriff encourages us to call 911 if we just see someone "suspicious/concerning" walking down the street?

Now THAT'S common sense.

What happened to adults addressing kids whether they're their kids or not, if there into something they shouldn't be? It seems like most of these include someone seeing something, and either posting it online, telling someone else or calling the law after the fact instead of doing something while they see it going on.

Decent Game cameras are cheap and easy to set up in a front yard where they're hard to see. Nothing better than having pictures or video to show kids parents. If you think you're being targeted and really don't know why or by who (wonder if they had kids that can tie in to whoever is doing it) it's not hard to set up inexpensive yet effective surveillance.

Stare at a spot in space. Come back in a month, stare again. You are following that investigation with equal results.

The more interesting thing here will be to read the insurance claim.... 8)

From the Denton County Sheriff's Office:

On 2-15-12, Deputies, were dispatched to an assault report at Bartonville Police Department.

An officer with the Bartonville Police Department was able to determine that the assault occurred at a residence in Lantana.

While en-route to the Bartonville Police Department, Deputies were advised that the victim was being transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Sheriff’s Deputies spoke with the victim who stated she was assaulted by her brother and her brother’s girlfriend at their residence in the 8400 block of Marsh Street, Sandlin, where the victim lives with her parents, her daughter, her brother, his girlfriend and their one year old daughter.

The victim stated that on 2-15-12 at approximately 4pm she was in her daughter’s bedroom putting away laundry, when she found a dark blue or purple glass pipe on a shelf in room. The victim stated she believed that the pipe was used to smoke marijuana.

The victim stated that her brother and his girlfriend are both marijuana users and believed the glass pipe belonged to one of them. The victim stated that her brother’s girlfriend came into her bedroom and demanded the glass pipe back. An argument issued and the victim gave the pipe back to the suspect to calm the situation down. The victim’s brother and his girlfriend then left the residence.

A short time later, the victim’s mother arrived at the residence and the victim told her about finding the pipe in the child’s bedroom. The mother of the victim called her son and told him to return to the residence, with his girlfriend, for a family meeting.

They all sat down at the kitchen table to discuss the situation. An argument issued and the victim’s brother and his girlfriend both became upset and hostile. The victim stated that her brother threatened to kill her and threw a kitchen table chair at her. The victim also stated that her brother’s girlfriend hit her on the top of her head with an unknown object, causing her pain. Then both of them grabbed the victim and slammed her head on the kitchen counter. The victim then left the residence and went to the Bartonville Police Department.

Deputies went to the residence where the assault had occurred, however the victim’s assailants were not located.

The case has been turned over to investigators.

From Lantana Crime Watch:

On Saturday, April 7, at 3am, unknown person(s) threw two tee markers from the golf course 13th hole at a home in the 1500 block of Terrace Drive in Sierra. One tee marker hit the patio and broke. The other one smashed through the Master Bedroom Window causing several hundred dollars of damage to the window and furniture inside. No injuries were reported.

The Denton County Sheriff's department dispatched an Officer to take a statement and collected the projectiles for evidence and further analysis.

Golf Course GM told me that somebody also vandalized the 12th Green that night.

From Lantana Crime Watch:

There was a car on Terrace Dr. (Sierra) that was "broken" into last night. The car was not locked. But the thieves got credit cards, debit cards etc. Some of the items were found on Hunter St. Please be aware that there has been more deviant behavior lately. Please be diligent and lock your cars.

have I got this right?

Breaking into a locked car: Crime
Opening an unlocked car and taking possession: deviant behavior?

This is what I'd term "deviant behavior:"
