You know why it took so long to award the prize? One of the criteria for meeting the requirements is performance after 25,000 hours....
The price? It's like every gizmo. First it costs a bundle so people like pipeline that are early adopters can get bragging rights. Then they get to ramp up volumes and manufacturing efficiency cut in and the price drop to where purists like Al can afford it. A while after than, when the herd has moved on, I get to pick up a Chinese rip-off up in the bargain basement.
