This makes sense on why the FM mayor and council are opposed to Kroger improving their store into a signature Krogers and adding a gas station. The Market Street in Coppell has their own gas station so I'm assuming this one will have one also.

So much for free trade in Flower Mound.

I've never been to a Market Street. Would I like it?

Yes! It's a great store. It's on the expensive side but they carry items / brands other stores don't. They have great prepared foods and meats. I love going to the one in Coppell.

Market Street was vetoed by FM about five years ago, so I am glad they are trying to build there again.

As mentioned, great prepared foods along with a terrific bakery and built-in coffee shop. Large selection of Beer and Wine. Hot Bar full of comfort food like Smoked Brisket, Ribs and Sausage, Meatloaf, Fried Chicken, etc. along with gourmet pizza and sandwiches. You would be shocked by how many people stop by just to eat lunch in the large seating area with TV's. Great looking produce. Seafood and Meat departments are not as large as Central Market, but IMO the same quality. Absolutely kills Kroger, Tom Thumb, and Albertsons.

Market Street seems to be more expensive overall than those big three stores, but they do run good weekly sales, and I will pay more for better quality.

It's second to CM-but the prices are lower and they do have good sales!

I think Kroger should now use that $14 million they are not going to use for store renovation/improvement/expansion and sue the pants off FM.

In part of the disclosures, it might be very interesting to know whether the naysayers on the P&Z and council had any prior communications with Market Street. Collusion is such a nasty thing and there are such harsh penalties for individuals when they are caught doing it. There is also no "umbrella" protection afforded by insurance on individuals in this position.

I believe there are 2 specific individuals that should be named in the suit and dragged through the process of digging in every dirty little corner. A lot of what Kroger was going to do would have appeased a lot of people, except both Tom Thumb and Market Street. I could not see Market Street coming in if Kroger was allowed to grown their business. While it would not have been a direct head to head competition, in this local market it would have been enough to make it hard for Market Street to pull that business away from Kroger. Tom Thumb and Kroger have competed for years, but with the new stores location, it would have been a bigger overlap for the population on this side of town.

In my opinion, we do have people that will snuggle up in corporate pockets and make donkey rear ends of themselves publicly to carry out the bidding of their masters. In other words, sacrificing Kroger to carve out a bigger spot for other business and the town has no choice but to accept it, and another empty giant retail space that will be that corner which was to be the Town Center. What do you think all the small businesses in there are doing right about now?? 2 Councilman said "screw you" to them all so what would you do. And you wonder why Flower Mound has the reputation it does?

If you like the prices at the Bartonville store, you will love Market Street. High prices and wonderful ambiance.

It's almost cynical how transparent some of these things are. If it wasn't Flower Mound, I'd have called it an insult to the voters' intelligence, but then I recall who voted for these people in the first place.

There seems to be an awful lot of voters, whether they're 1 issue, 1 time voters or not, that are experiencing a great awakening. I think energy is building that will fuel a movement that will send the message, "the he|| with NFL" in May. You could say Flower Mound may have a very productive "movement".

I think it's very obvious to the majority of people that there's more to this issue that's made it to the surface, and the primary actor blew his chance to make it sound legit with a good explanation and reasoning by instead, babbling at the council meeting, appearing to have lost confidence in the delivery of his message and mission before casting his vote. His pet and sidekick was even worse, insulting residents babbling his angry and arrogant rant.

That is excellent news! I have gone numerous times to the Coppell location. While I would prefer to see a Whole Foods or Central Market, I welcome this addition and really loathe the lack of grocery selection and quality at both Walmart and Target.

There's this store called Sprouts that's already HERE that offers a wide selection of groceries at a good quality and price.
