Mayor will not seek second term

Postby admin » Wed Nov 30, 2011 11:26 am

"‎2012 has presented me with an extremely positive opportunity to expand my medical practice. To this end I have decided not to seek reelection to Highland Village City Council, Place One. I have no doubts about the capabilities of members of this community to step up and serve. I have enjoyed my service and look forward to working for our citizens until May of 2012. The roles of husband, father, physician, and surgeon will continue to be the most important in my life."

Mayor McDearmont did his stint for 2 years to serve his community, and now moves on. He cut his ribbons, stayed out of the way of staff to let them get their job done. Should be a valuable lesson to other local mayors, that "it is not all about them and their publicity". He led quietly, letting those who get paid to do what they are supposed to do, do what they do, without personal notoriety.

Compare this guy to Mayor Sue in Copper Canyon.

Mayor Sue will be reaching out of her grave trying to control events in Copper Canyon.

Much evil comes from the insatiable need to control others.

Scott is a great guy. We met him many years ago, before he aspired to be mayor. He has served well. Bill is a good man as well. I have known him for several years and found him to be gracious and kind as well as smart. I think he will also serve our town well.

Davis gets endorsement from outgoing Mayor McDearmont:

"The next mayor of Highland Village should be someone with ample time to devote to the citizens of Highland Village. I believe that Pat Davis fits the bill and is the most qualified candidate for this position. He has immersed himself in city issues since being on the council and will serve the citizens well. Pat Davis has my full support and endorsement in his campaign for Highland Village Mayor."

Davis gets endorsement from former mayor, Bill Lawrence:

"As a former mayor of the City of Highland Village, I endorse Mr. Pat Davis for Mayor. Pat Davis is fiscally conservative, understands the needs of our community, and has the courage to lead. He has a strong history of service to our citizens and community. Serving as mayor requires strong listening skills, transparent leadership, and time to serve the citizens of Highland Village. Please vote for Pat Davis."

Got a mailer from Bill Irwin touting his work with NINE mayors and DOZENS of councilmembers. Not sure how that math works, but it looks like both mayors Irwin has worked with in his three plus years on the council are endorsing Pat Davis. All but one of the current HV council endorses Pat Davis. Why can't Bill Irwin get the support of those who have worked with him most closely and most recently. And why didn't Irwin answer the education question asked by the CTG in the candidate interview? I will be voting Davis!
