I wanted to know what people thought of solar screens? Do they help? are they expensive?

We used Lonestar and they were very reasonably priced and the screens look great. We had them add slats like the windows have so you can hardly notice they are there. We have them only on our back windows because that is where the sun sets and the temp dropped at least 5 degrees instantly.

Lonestar will come out and do an obligation-free, estimate for you. However, I just ordered screens for my east and west windows (a Highland Home Plan) and our bill for 12 windows was just over 400. The prices are based on the square footage of the screens, whether you choose to do a grid on the screen, etc., so its hard for you to use a price range from another's screen purchase. However, some windows are oversized and will require more than one screen, so I caution you to have your own estimate done. I called them based on the other thread, that I started a few months ago, and am glad that I took Al and the other poster's advice. This company had good warranties, a respectful salesperson, and plenty of options for my family to choose from.
