Does anyone know if Orchid Hill road is open from Copper Canyon to 2499 or is it still under construction?

I think it's been open.

We need CCR to tell us if we can take that to the bank. :)
I finally found an avatar that works!

You can go east bound from Copper Canyon Road to 2499, (I drove it on Friday) on Orchid Hill Lane. West bound on Orchid Hill lane will only get you to Chin Chapel Road.

Ah, I was thinking about the leg from Chin Chapel, not further west!! That'll be interesting to see it complete and open. Dragging a trailer through there was a hassle, but I was OK with it and didn't need to see it ripped up and made bigger like everything else! :)

Hopefully this will make a nice alternative to get from Lantana to HV. I needed to go to baseball and softball practice for the kids on Saturday and it would have been nice to avoid the new cluster (bleep) that they created in front of the Walmart on 407.

At one point the traffic was backed up to the Sonic on 407 and trying to cut through DO was not much better. Hopefully we can go out the back side of Lantana, take Orchid Hill to 2499 to Highland Shores to Briarwood. It may be a mile or two longer but if you stay moving somehow it seems quicker than sitting in gridlock traffic.

It will be. It will also be a nice speed trap. Beware.

Man you're not kidding!! ANd it's not just weekends or rush hour. It's almost always backing up at least to 2499. It's easy to go way around just to avoid it.

I know there's some construction going on, like on Friday they had easy bound lanes down to one at the light, so everyone that passed all the other entrances to Walmart would be stopped and backing traffic up and it only took 1 car. At that point it was back to Chin Chapel.

That light is causing more harm than good so far. It ought to be shut off, or shut down east bound left turns until it's all finished. It's not hard to get in to Walmart from any of the several other entrances.

FM 407 East must be avoided at all costs. It is a cluster. HV Resident may not like it, but I use 2499 to Highland Shores Boulevard. to Southbound HV Road. Stop signs, but no headaches, yet.

From the Town of Copper Canyon:

Orchid Hill is now open from Copper Canyon Road to 2499. The contractor will be working on a few cleanup items so please drive with caution. Thank you for your patience during construction.

At the April 8, 2013 Town Council Meeting, several residents gave their personal preference for the speed limit on Orchid Hill. A vast majority recommended 30 MPH from Copper Canyon Road to 2499. The Council voted unanimously to set the speed limit at 30 MPH.

30 MPH sounds great in theory....I just wish CC had a police force like Double Oak that would enforce these speed limits.

How is this any different from what has been set? The 4 signs from ccr to 2499 already say 30.

They increased the speed at the S curve from 20 to 30.
