On the evening of Sunday, January 30th, a man parked his car in the police department parking lot. He advised that he was armed with a pistol and he told officers that he wanted to kill himself. On Tuesday afternoon, police responded to a barricaded person in the 500 block of Pine Street. The man’s family had reported that the 33 year-old Lewisville man was barricaded in the home with a handgun and that he had threatened suicide. After numerous attempts to negotiate with the subject, the SWAT team eventually located the man deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Detective Austin responded to the scene for investigative purposes. He is working with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office to investigate this death. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner has taken possession of the deceased person for further investigation.
Criminal Alien Program
The Criminal Alien Program (CAP) focuses on identifying criminal aliens who are incarcerated within federal, state, and local facilities thereby ensuring that they are not released into the community by securing a final order of removal prior to the termination of their sentence. The identification and processing of incarcerated criminal aliens prior to release reduces the overall cost and burden to the federal government as the number of aliens detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), upon expiration of sentence will be minimized.
During January of 2011, the Lewisville Police Department referred 26 inmates to federal officials, who issued 14 detainers.
