Lantana Corner Progress???

Postby courtneys » Mon Mar 07, 2011 11:49 am

Does anyone know the status of the Lantana corner project? I thought they were supposed to begin construction on the grocery store/shopping center once they got 407 curved by the water tower, but it's been a while, and I don't see anything happening. Additionally, when will all the stuff by Sonic be built? The "coming soon" signs have been there for years now.

The Car Wash and Dry Cleaners are Franchise Opportunities. If you were going to invest a million dollars to go into business for yourself is that the first location you would pick? Even a Corporation like Safeway or Kroger surely have better areas to develop than our little corner.

I would not count on seeing anything there for a LONG time if the economy continues at the current trend.

That is my guess as well. And I don't have any more info than what you read in the article.

since they are purposely not announcing thier name i was wondering if it was going to be a wal-mart neighborhood store.

Kroger Signature would be my bet based on the Keller project that is underway and the square footage posted on the Kroger website is in line with what they say in the article: "Marketplace stores opened during the last two years range in size from 100,000 to 130,000 square feet." And that's OK with me! :D

Since RGB has partnered with HEB, it sure would be nice to have a Central Market but I guess that doesn't qualify as a "major chain" plus in reality, I don't think this area could support a CM.

I would disagree. A combo HEB/CM hybrid stores they have would be a perfect fit here. Kroger Signature store is ok but not the same concept that HEB has incorporated.

Either way, hope Target has a alternative strategy plan. Once that new grocery store goes up, my investment in Target will drop dramatically. And I would guess the same for the 7k homes in Lantana.

I wonder if Kroger would be inclined to spend money here after being rebuffed in Flower Mound? Might be the exact right "up yours" response.

What do you mean by a combo HEB/CM hybrid store? I think I'm unfamiliar with that.

Its a high end HEB. But since HEB owns Central Market, many of amenities of what makes up a CM (visually, products, etc) is integrated into HEB. My parents in Houston area has one close and its a great place.

What you all need is a European Carrefour. That's to salivate for.

I agree that a hybrid store would probably do well, but as much as I love CM, don't think the location is best for one.

Great if it were Europe, but this place is called Texas. It will be a Kroger, with gas pumps, at the Lantana curve. Why in blazes would you bring up Euro crap that ain't happening? Lantana doesn't need Euro Crap.
