As a Permanent Resident you can only vote in local and state elections that do not require you to be a US citizen. It is very important that you do not vote in national, state or local elections that require a voter to be a US citizen when you are not a US citizen.

How do I find out which is which & how/where do I register?

To be eligible to register in Texas, you must:
be a U.S. citizen;
be a resident of the county;
be 18 years old (you may register at 17 years and 10 months);
not a convicted felon (unless a person's sentence is completed, including any probation or parole)
not declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law

I know zero about the candidates or issues. I haven't lived out here long enough to get a grip on what is good/bad about who is serving already, and the local papers only seem to talk about the road situations/development problems on the front pages...not that I scour those little papers for info, though.

So I am too uninformed to cast a vote.

Lantana residents can vote for the Denton ISD Board of Trustees and a Texas Constitutional Amendment that caps school property taxes for homeowners 65 years and older and those who are disabled.
