Hurricane Gustav and people not wanting to leave New Orleans

Postby slider701 » Sun Aug 31, 2008 9:54 am

Reading this article makes you not feel sorry for these folks in the least amount...........they have a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane barreling down on them and they still refuse to leave

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/weather/08/3 ... ef=topnews

Katrina was a cat 3 and killed 1800 who refused to leave. What do they think will happen when a cat 4 or 5 hits them?

Maybe the citizens took their queue from McCain's reaction to Katrina and think it's no big deal?

Perhaps they will have cake? this photo is dated Monday, Aug. 29, 2005

Shame on McCain and Bush for not stopping everything in their lives because a bunch of dumb a$$es refused to evacuate as a hurricane barreled down on their home..........homes built under sea level.

We'll see what happens this time. My bet is that it will be the same story.....I have no money to leave, I didn't want to leave my 4 dogs behind, it won't be that bad, it won't actually hit us, I needed to stay to protect my crack house......and so on and so on.

I'll agree that FEMA and the rest of the government should of been better prepared in the early days of Katrina............but the people who stayed should of been held accountable also. Instead everyone made it about being poor and pulled the race card...including the mayor of the city. Everyone blamed it on Bush for not coming soon enough and bailing their dumb a$$es out by evacuating them off their roof tops. No one, including the mayor took an ounce of blame for not getting out when they had the chance.

My prediction is we'll see the same exact thing again..........hopefully not but we'll see.

Probably, because there weren't any to really avoid.

I did a quick search to try to find out and found this... couldn't pass up posting it.

While I agree that everyone should have gotten out of Dodge, it never works out that way. Not everyone evacuates for east coast hurricanes either. whether or not people evacuated is beside the point. they are still american citizens and the president should have reacted to help them in a faster fashion.

When your child doesnt listen to you and gets hurt do you ignore their injuries? Probably not.

Cake?! comon seriously, Americans were drowning.

Oh Al, is that a portrait of you that you photoshopped Obama's head onto?

While I'm flattered you think it was a portrait of me, unfortunately I don't think I'm quite there yet.

And I don't think I'm that good with Photoshop.

By the way... Kudos to Prez Bush is not going to the convention so he can react faster to the storm. Same goes for McCain who said a few moments ago he will change the whole tone of the RNC as a result of Gustav.

The evacuation plan also seems much more efficient this go around. Not just telling citizens to gas up and go, but offering bus and train rides out.

yes but there were still those who are staying  saw 'em on the news tonight. Was wondering about the police who say looting will not tolerated, are they sticking around? How are they gonna be safe?

Just watched the channel 8 news where they interviewed some of the people in shelters here in Dallas. These ungrateful people were complaining that they missed breakfast because they overslept and the center ran out of plates (still had food..just no plates), one guy complained that his mother got sick off her free bowl of oatmeal, and another mother of 8 complained about not enough places for her whole family to sleep together. They showed this mother loading 6 of the kids in the back set of her Suburban..........never mind there are not enough seat belts for them.

My thoughts.............Go home you ungrateful idiots!!!! (I would use a more colorful word for idiot but it would just get censored)

It never ceases to amaze me when people complain about the quality of free stuff/help they are getting in the time of their need. I'll bet a paycheck that someone will be on the news in the next 72 hours with their hands out looking for gas money to make the trip home.....and then complain because it is not enough to get them all the way home

I know right?! Who cares if these folks are worried about losing their home, jobs and all of that important stuff. They need to prioritize their concerns and make being courteous #1.
