many people vote along the party lines simply because it is along the party lines. I would bet that a huge percentage of people may not even associate with anything one of the 2 parties says/does today, but since they have been with that party fo 30,40,50 years, they still vote for that party's candidate.

The main reason I continue to vote republican is for the tax issue. Before I starting making any real money, I was a party line democrat.
It doesn't matter if I've had my coffee or not.

I was a Democrat from Nixon to George H.W. Bush. I voted for some of the worst candidates offered to this country, and then one day I woke up and smelled the coffee. The Republicans are far from perfect, but have a 100% more to offer this nation than the Democrats.

I believe it was Winston Churchill or some other statesman who said, "If by the time you are 20, you aren't a liberal then you have no heart. But if by the time you are 40, you aren't a conservative then you have no brain."

the main reason I won't vote even with the citizenship this year is that I don't care for either party or either candidate. need more parties and more candidates. unfortunately, in this "free media" country, a 3rd candidate would not get 5% of John's or Barak's time, regardless. if a 3rd candidate got as much media attention, you'd be looking at a tight 3-way tie, with the runoff 2 weeks after the 1st round.

Why not? If the gov't can consistently spend more money than it takes in, then it should be possible.

Speaking of Welfare, I was in line at walmart in HV the other day, I was behind a family who happened to be paying with WIC, which takes FOREVER. So she pays for her allowed WIC items, and then she reached into her Louis Vuitton hand bag (which was real by the way, probably a $1200 purse) and pulls out a roll of cash to pay for the beer and cigarettes.
