Beer?

Postby skiing1974 » Sun Apr 20, 2008 12:57 pm

Hooligan started this! Said Bud Light is trash. I couldn't agree more. All light beer is as far as I am concerned. Just came back from Chicago and enjoyed their local Goose Island as well as Weber Backyard Brew.

Sking,
I'm not familiar with those names of brews. Should I be? Are they like Chicago pizza or something? Peculiar to just that area? Or are you merely stating that you had some and we can't?

Yeah those sound like some weird mirco-brews and would only be found in the greater Chicago area. Gimme some yummy Carlsberg or Grolsch Blonde.

Goose Island is a good size brewery in Chicago only yes. Weber one, well, Weber Grill is the restaurant in Chicago owned by Weber Grill makers, and they have their brew!.

A nice bock from a tiny town in Texas...Shiner, baby, and all it's variations.

Blonde, being my favorite the last few years when I have it. Wait, that sounded wrong...but you know what I mean.

I agree with Lantana07...on the little brewery in Spoetzl, TX. I don't drink much beer these days (probably just enough to keep my "man card" up to date), but when I do, I like something with a taste to it that is not real heavy. Shiner seems to fit that requirement for me.

Traveling for work has allowed me to try some nice micro beers...

Goose Island was good.

Yuengling (sp?) from Philly is very good.

Had some really good IPA from up around the Portland area. Bridgeport being the best one that comes to mind.

I try to avoid the three major light beers - coors, miller, and bud. They are just alcohol water to me.

I haven't had yuengling lager in years! But yes - it's good. I had a roommate that went to Penn State who used to sneak back a six pack or two in luggage when coming back from visits! I don't believe you can buy it locally though...

I'm more of a West Coast microbrew girl myself - favs being Gordon Biersch and Pyramid. I have been known to toss back a few imports *gasp* as well.

I meet the Moose Drool in Montana a few years ago. Good stuff!!!

As a recent transplant to this area, I must agree -- Shiner Blond has become my favorite local brew!!

Pyramid is good. I use to go to their restaurant/brewery in Sacramento.

if I just could figure out how to post the pictures, I'd post the one of my beer cap collection. I try to get a different beer every weekend, I can't say that I am successful anymore, after collecting some 300 caps. All micro brews are unique in their own sense and good in most cases. east coast/west coast micro brews mentioned above-all great!
