That is bunk. Anyone I knew that had done hard drugs, or pot, was into booze way before then.
If anything, alcohol is the "gateway" drug.

It's not the substance that leads from one to the other, it's the environment.
If someone is a circle with the type of people that buy and use pot, they are likely to be along side with narcotic users and sellers.
Buying legal alcohol doesn't usually expose one to the same element that sells drugs.
