Primary Election Results: Gill wins Republican nomination to represent Denton County in U.S. House; Razor thin race in TX 65; Runoff in TX 64

Denton County residents joined Texans by heading to the polls on Tuesday to finish out a busy primary election season.

Here are the unofficial voting results in select contested races to represent part or all of southern Denton County, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s Office and Denton County Elections Office:

U.S. House of Representatives, District 26 (99% reporting)

Republican

  • Brandon Gill: 58.3%, 42,753 votes
  • Scott Armey: 15.1%
  • John Huffman: 9.7%
  • Luisa Del Rosal: 4.6%
  • Doug Robison: 3.8%
  • Mark “Big Rut” Rutledge: 2.4%
  • Joel Krause: 2.2%
  • Neena Biswas: 1.8%
  • Burt Thakur: 1.1%
  • Vlad De Franceschi: 0.6%
  • Jason Kergosien: 0.4%

Note: The Associated Press has projected Brandon Gill of Flower Mound, who received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, as the Republican nominee. Gill avoided a runoff by earning more than half of all the votes in a crowded field of Republicans vying to succeed longtime Rep. Michael Burgess, who did not seek reelection.

Ernest Lineberger: 100%

State House of Representatives, District 63 (100% reporting)

Republican

  • Ben Bumgarner (i): 59.23%, 9,741 votes
  • Vincent Gallo: 35.34%
  • Carlos Andino: 5.43%

Democrat

  • Michelle Beckley: 66.43%, 3,974 votes
  • Denise Wooten: 33.57%

State House of Representatives, District 64 (99% reporting)

Republican

  • Lynn Stucky (i): 41.24%, 8,687 votes
  • Elaine Hayes: 10.51%
  • Andy Hopper: 48.26%, 10,165 votes

This race appears to be heading to a runoff between Stucky and Hopper, setting up a rematch from two years ago.

Democrat

Angela Brewer: 100%

State House of Representatives, District 65 (100% reporting)

Republican

  • Kronda Thimesch (i): 49.31%, 10,653 votes
  • Mitch Little: 50.69%, 10,951 votes

Democrat

Detrick DeBurr: 100%

Denton County Tax Assessor-Collector (100% reporting)

Republican

Rob Altman II: 38.1%

Dawn Waye: 61.9%, 46,762 votes

Denton County Republican Party Chair (100% reporting)

Lacey Riley (i): 61.46%, 45,397 votes

David Rettig: 38.54%

Denton County Democratic Party Chair (100% reporting)

Delia Parker Mims (i): 85.86%, 22,177 votes

Neil Durrance: 14.14%

If any races end without one candidate getting more than 50% of the vote, the two candidates with the most votes will head to a runoff Primary Election on May 28.
