The division is not between "drill, baby, drill conservatives, who seem suspicious of most regulation and some environmentalists, who seem to regard fossil fuels and morally corrupt..." This is about science, health, economics and facts. There are several strong conservatives who have refuted the gas companies' lies. The real divide is between greedy, unscrupulous gas companies and the American public.
