District to host robotics camp at Newton Rayzor, July 25-28
Registration has been extended for the Denton Independent School District’s inaugural summer robotics camp to Friday, July 15.
The camp will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, July 25, through Thursday, July 28, at Newton Rayzor Elementary School and is open to students, ages 7 through 13, interested in learning about science, engineering and computer programming in a fun environment.
Campers will learn how to design, build and program their own robot, while applying the core values used in First Lego League competitions.
Students will break into age-based groups and learn the basics of teamwork, collaboration and leadership as they work together on their robot projects. Public speaking workshops also will take place as students will learn how to describe their projects and develop effective communication skills.
All participating students are responsible for their own lunch daily. A concession stand will also be open for purchase of snacks.
Cost for the robotics camp is $200, with a non-refundable $100 due at the time of registration. Fees include all materials necessary to participate in the robotics program and a camp T-shirt. Registration and fees can be paid online.
