High-end art and fashion merge at event benefiting Kidd’s Kids on May 12th

PLANO, TX (May 8, 2012) – The latest designer eyewear collections will be displayed alongside stunning artwork from leading Dallas artists at a trunk show benefiting the Kidd’s Kids charitable organization. Popular radio personality Kellie Rasberry, from the nationally syndicated “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” program, will also be attending.

The high-end Trunk Show and art exhibition will be held Saturday, May 12th, from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM at Eye Pieces inside the Shops at Legacy in Plano. Eye Pieces – Plano is the state-of-the-art optometric practice of Dr. Robert Birenbaum.

The event will feature new eyewear collections from Alain Mikli, Tom Ford and Chanel, along with art works by renowned local artists Frankie Garcia III, and Linda Bourgault, Cindy Gray and Melissa Ellis of CITYARTCAL.

Trunk Show guests will enjoy a 25 percent discount on all eyewear purchased at the event. In addition, Eye Pieces will donate 15 percent of all eyewear sales to Kidd’s Kids. The participating artists are also donating 10 percent of their sales to the charity.

“Our trunk shows are always festive affairs that attract a wonderful crowd, but this particular event is going to be truly special,” said Dr. Robert Birenbaum, owner of Eye Pieces – Plano. “Not only are we proud to be generating needed funds for Kidd’s Kids, but we’re honored that Kidd Kraddick himself, and several outstanding local artists, are joining us as well.”

Dr. Birenbaum recently announced that he has partnered with Kidd’s Kids to extend his practice’s products and services at no cost to the children served by the charity. Every child involved with Kidd’s Kids has been offered complimentary eye exams at his Eye Pieces – Plano practice. In addition, all Kidd’s Kids in need of prescription eye wear will receive complimentary corrective lenses.

“I have admired what Kidd Kraddick has been doing for these wonderful children for many years,” said “Dr. Bob,” as he is known to his younger clientele. “When I learned of the need many of these kids have for expert eye care and prescription products, I jumped at the opportunity to pitch in. It was one of the easiest decisions I’ve made in my 40-plus years in private practice.”

Kidd’s Kids, a program of the Kraddick Foundation, was established in 1991 with the hope of making a difference in the lives of terminally and chronically ill children. Each year, Kidd's Kids offers five amazing days of suspended reality to children whose lives have been ravaged by disease, with an all-expenses paid trip to Disney World for the kids and their immediate family.

“I am very grateful to Dr. Bob for stepping up in such a big way to support to Kidd’s Kids,” said Kidd Kraddick. “With more than 150 of our kids living in the DFW area, there is a tremendous need for professional eye care, and many of the families we serve simply can’t afford it on top of their already-massive medical bills.”

All guests at the May 12th trunk show will be treated to a delicious array of hors d’oeuvres and live musical entertainment. Complimentary valet services will also be available.
