My bad, I meant Swirl? or whatever the cake shop that was on the S/E corner of 2499 and 1171. Changed names 9and owners) a few times over the years and could never hit that "sweet spot" that would assure continued existence. Last we were there they were also trying their hand at some sort of take-out dinner meals.

Celebrations, come to think of it, is that wedding reception place next to the now defunct Life's a Beach restaurant. Both of these had Fred Placke (former LISD School board member) as an investor/owner.

That's it. It was originally, "something" I can't remember the name but it was never even close to the one down on Lovers Lane or where ever it is. If I were to get sucked in to going, I'd rather have gone in to Dallas than the one out here.

Now it's a cake shop. Hmmm......hope it works out.

Swirl should still be there. I love that place....great bakery place and great for breakfast and lunch.

I guess I assumed Swirl was gone to the dead pool. I'll have to check when I go by there. Since it's been there, I think I've been in that parking lot about 3 times so I can't tell you what's still there, except the game place since they always seem to have massive signs up.

We go to Swirl almost every weekend. They have BOGO free coupons for breakfast and lunch that I usually see in the Clipper magazine (or something like that), their food is fresh, and my boys actually eat well there.

My family has owned the Bakery for the entire 9 1/2 years. We opened as a Celebrity Bakery back in July 2002. Our agreement ran out with Celebrity and their new management team in 2007, and they decided that they didn't want anymore franchisees. We simply flipped our name and found new similar recipes and now operate as Swirl Bakery.

We have worked through construction out our front door for 2 years, the terrible recession of 2009 which claimed many businesses, and now our next hurdle is another bakery a few doors down.

I stopped by Nothing Bundt Cakes this weekend and picked up a dozen mini bundts - they are delicious. I'd wanted to try them before but until now the closest store was in Southlake. I'm just glad they're not any closer to me, now.

Doesn't coconut oil have a high level of saturated fat? Along with real butter and the chocolate itself, you're right, they're probably dangerous but sound delicious.

Yeah, but my wife would say it's the sugar and grain (especially bleached white flour) that is dangerous, not the coconut oil and butter. She has been studying nutrition and recently went to a nutrition conference where they served things like "potato chips fried in pure lard"... yes, lard is better for you than the processed oils most places used, at least according to what she studies.

She would also say coconut oil is one of the healthiest oils you can eat. Fat can be good or bad, depending on the kind of fat.
