Fido Fest is just around the corner!

How you can help...

Fido Fest is fast approaching! Whether you want to participate by volunteering or just by attending and enjoying the event, you can help HSFM raise much-needed funds for the animals of our community (and have a great time while you're at it!).

The first and most important way to help is to sign up for Fido Fest at http://www.fidofest2011.eventbrite.com as a Firstgiving Registration, then go to http://www.firstgiving.com/hsfm/event/fidofest2011 to gather sponsors for you and your dog to walk that day. Just think...even raising $50 in sponsorships doubles the donation to HSFM over a basic $25 registration! You can do this even if you or your dog is not attending...or your cat...or your duck...it's just a great way to let your friends and family help support a cause you care about. And there are some terrific prizes for the folks who raise the most money! We have a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Vacuum, a Wine Styles gift basket, gift certificates to our Pawsitively Polite Obedience Classes, and more! For the junior volunteer who raises the most funds, we have a Nintendo DSI and iTunes gift cards for the 2nd and 3rd place winners...so kids, get those pages created!

Next, we do need volunteers to help that day as well! Volunteers will start at 7:30am and we should be done by 1:30pm. We need setup and takedown volunteers, runners, and folks to work the registration booth. In addition, we have the following games/activities still open:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT FIDO FEST:

It's Fido Fest time again--celebrate life with dogs! Bring your dog out on Saturday, June 18, 2011 for a morning of fun and games and help raise much-needed funds for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals in your community.

Fido Fest features a walk through the trails of Westchester Park, followed by games, activities, and shopping for the whole family. And this year, join our volunteers as we walk "Naked" in the park! Lucky 13, nicknamed "Naked," was rescued in May. At the tender age of only 10 weeks, she was already covered in mange and had almost no hair. Open sores covered her body and she was weak from fighting the parasites. Naked's care was sponsored by the Mercy Fund, a special fund created specifically to raise money to pay for extra medical care needed to treat the many abused, neglected, and injured dogs and cats taken in by HSFM each year. She is now recovering and slowly growing her hair back…and ready to find a new name! This little doll will be the honorary canine guest at Fido Fest this year and her presence will help raise awareness of the plight of abused and neglected animals.

Registration starts at 8:30am and ends at 1:00pm. The dog walk begins at 9am (try out a little "doga" stretching and relaxing beforehand!). Afterward, you can shop at our vendor booths, get your dog's portrait taken, play games, and watch demos by some amazing dogs. Your dog can compete in a costume contest, try his paw at agility and painting, or just relax and chill at our cooling booth--complete with doggie ice cream and misters. For the two-legged kids, there will be a bounce house and face painting. And for dogs adopted from HSFM, there will be special bandanas and a Rescue Reunion group photo.

Microchipping will be available for $40 including registration.
