Anybody head east from Lantana today around one o'clock? traffic backed up all the way to cc road stoplight. What a drag. But I was going West, no prob.

7 to 10 days LOL

It's now been 30 days.. I guess moving culvert pipes on scene counts as work.

From HV Mayor Scott McDearmont:

"The widening of FM 407 has experienced extensive delays even as road projects go. There are ongoing utility relocation issues that hopefully will be resolved soon. I wish I could give a better timetable, but the city will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates."

i love how they can now tell admin that Chinn Chapel to 1830 will start in feb/mar 2012, when they don't even know what is going on with the section from Briarhill TO Chinn Chapel, that was always supposed to be done first. I agree with Brian completely.

Construction is the biggest industry Texas has. I am confident that when it is all done it will provide better traffic flow and ease of congestion.

Of course it will, only it should have been started ten years ago.

Weather permitting, the completion date of the Atmos work on FM 407 east of FM 2499 will be by the end of the week of January 30. Resolving these issues will allow the contractor to begin work again on the project. Once the contractor has started work, the focus will be shifted to issues west of FM 2499.

seems like it would be easier to stop shoving homes into the area.

407 will still be the same traffic mess it is now. Look at 2499 for example....

2499 flows a whole lot better than it used to, even considering all the Denton and Corinth traffic coming and going all the way through to and from 2181. What used to be 25-30 minutes, even in heavy traffic can easily be 10 minutes.

But you're right about 407, it sucks. :D I dno't know what it's going to look like, but at 4 lanes it'll still be taxed and with more building it makes it worse. But getting 2499 to west 407 traffic fixed will be a huge deal for the rest of the intersection.

From the City of Highland Village:

The Atmos Energy buried pipeline conflict has been cleared. The contractor will resume the installation of the drainage pipe.

From the City of Highland Village:

Have We Been Snake Bit?
Being nestled up against Lake Lewisville and experiencing all the creatures that inhabit southern Denton County with us, I believe we are all familiar with the term “being snake bit.” I have come to believe that the FM 407 reconstruction project must be one such casualty. The last update we provided to the residents of Highland Village came from our attendance of the March 26th, Precinct 3 Transportation Task Force meeting. It was reported to us a meeting was held on March 7th between the contractor and TxDOT and the following message was provided to us. “The contractor will remobilize and time charges will start again. The contractor and TxDOT will start to negotiate a change order for the utility delay. A tentative date for the contractor to remobilize and start back to work is set for April 2, 2012”. Yes, today is Friday, April 13th and no one has remobilized, no work is being done and we have been informed that next week there will be another meeting to negotiate and determine a change order for the utility delay. So, for two years and four months not much has been done on this project. In my mind it appears that the FM 407 project may have taken a direct snake bite. Let’s hope not. Too much hard work has already gone into this project, transportation funding from TxDOT is fragile and we just can’t waste this opportunity. I guess I need to get out my hoe and go snake hunting! Stay tuned, we will keep you updated.
