From the City of Highland Village:
Have We Been Snake Bit?
Being nestled up against Lake Lewisville and experiencing all the creatures that inhabit southern Denton County with us, I believe we are all familiar with the term “being snake bit.” I have come to believe that the FM 407 reconstruction project must be one such casualty. The last update we provided to the residents of Highland Village came from our attendance of the March 26th, Precinct 3 Transportation Task Force meeting. It was reported to us a meeting was held on March 7th between the contractor and TxDOT and the following message was provided to us. “The contractor will remobilize and time charges will start again. The contractor and TxDOT will start to negotiate a change order for the utility delay. A tentative date for the contractor to remobilize and start back to work is set for April 2, 2012”. Yes, today is Friday, April 13th and no one has remobilized, no work is being done and we have been informed that next week there will be another meeting to negotiate and determine a change order for the utility delay. So, for two years and four months not much has been done on this project. In my mind it appears that the FM 407 project may have taken a direct snake bite. Let’s hope not. Too much hard work has already gone into this project, transportation funding from TxDOT is fragile and we just can’t waste this opportunity. I guess I need to get out my hoe and go snake hunting! Stay tuned, we will keep you updated.
