$400 water bill, for ONE month??? That sure isn't making me want to move to FM. WTH are you doing to get a water bill that high?

What is the average electric bill there? Where we are now I manage to keep my electric bill under 200.00 and even most of the time under 150 or less. Our water/trash bill has never been over 140.00 either. I thought CA was the highest as far as utilities went!

Your water bill will largely depend on the size of your lot - ours is 0.2 acres, and our water bill runs between $100 and $200 throughout the year. Also depends on if you have a pool, how big the pool is, and how hot it is, requiring adding water.

My electric bill during the summer is in the $375 range a per month. We have a 3400 SF house with 2 electric zones, and my husband works from home, so the AC is running all day. Hard not to have a high electric bills when the temperature is close to triple digits and you have to run the AC all day. That's just the way it is in Texas (not specific to FM!)

There is a lot that impacts the bills, and it's not necessarily town specific...

But hey...my mortgage is less than $1,000 month...which is less than half of what my mortgage was in NY for a house that was 60 years old and half the size of what we have now. I'll take it! :)

our mortgage has been paid off for 10 years and yet the monthly cost of living here is over the top, 1000$ a month is my lawn service.....
