After flipping thru my latest, much anticipated, issue of the CTG, I couldn't help but notice several Mayoral articles that plead their town's greatness, but only one Mayoral article that, consistently, spends it's newsprint space, in the justification of the most recent malfeasance, nepotism, cronyism and lack of fiduciary duty, that it's council employs. Go figga.

An enumerated list would be more powerful than the posting above.

That is, list examples of the skullduggery in CC.

I don't doubt you. I just think folks who are not that involved may find the details more enlightening.

Bullet points will be fine.

You obviously have not have read my disclaimer.
But...
- Doubling taxes in 5 years (including the ESD and road bond)
- Asking town residents to submit personal information for an alleged "town directory", 3 years ago, that the mayor has access to and no opposition does, for calling everybody and his dog in election season.
- Personally campaigning against and ousting council members that have a differing opinion and don't "tow the line", claiming he missed 3 meetings in 2 years while every current council member may not have attended 3 in 2 years. After all as she said at a Harlington road mediation meeting 3 years ago when only one member showed up "her council members are world travelers and can't be everywhere".
- incessant unnecessary ordinances costing thousands of legal dollars, because other towns are doing it.
- Appointing council family members to P&Z Board.
- Paying the Cadillac of engineering firms for road work, when a Chevy would do, just because an ex-county commissioner (who the current CC mayor personally helped erect campaign signs in a failed re-election bid for county commissioner on a cold January Sunday), got a job with them. What's up there?
etc. etc. etc.

I could go on and on, but I do grow weary.

Check out the above tirade by an English EMP tearing the Euro-Techno-crats new rear-ends. If you are not following what is going on in Europe, stop watching the Kardashian whores and pay attention to what matters!

I think the mayor and town council are due for such treatment.

I finally read the CT Gazette. The mayor continues to attack her political opponents in her monthly report. Pathetic. The sensationalistic description of a "light industrial facility" that was "secretly constructed" was particularly amusing. To read her piece you would think the Iranians were hiding a light-water nuclear plant somewhere off Copper Woods land under an easement.

In the same report she says the next big project in CC will be the retail development on FM407.

Demented old hypocrite. Shut up already. Still your pen. Leave us alone. Enough of your half truths and deception.

Which of the following is found in a rural atmosphere?

a.) various equipment used in construction by hard working, red blooded Americans, or

b.) a high priced food store that caters to sandal wearing, pot smoking, hippies who are searching for just the right granola or tofu hotdogs?

If you answered a. you are correct, and are a true American.

If you answered b. you are Mayor Sue.

What will follow the retail development:

a.) lower taxes for the homeowners of CC !! or

b.) a Copper Canyon Police force to protect the new retail development

If you guessed a. you are not paying attention. Again, stop watching the immoral escapades of the Kardashians and pay attention!

If you guessed b. you have figured out what Mayor Sue is all about. She is all about expansion of local government and an increase of taxes to support said expansion. It will not stop. Your taxes will continue to rise, and the town of Copper Canyon will be in your face each and every day you live here.

After Police, then what? Universal sewerage?

Oh, that reminds me. I am not spoiled by having cheap water, Mayor. I found your comments about the future of water in our area to be very condescending and patronizing. I use very little water, but I have sure seen my water bill rise in recent years. Please don't be surprised if people's hatred for you only increases as you talk down to them and suggest that they are spoiled. Don't make such an unfounded accusation. Stop talking down to us. We are citizens - not children to be controlled, bullied, and manipulated.

CCR,

I guess you won't be attending the annual Christmas party, and ride the fire engine? :)

Due to the criminal background of Copper Canyon's recently elected Council Member, I would discourage any parent or citizen from attending the town's Christmas Party. The Mayor and remaining council members showed a lack of judgment with their support of such a candidate and for intentionally not informing the citizens of his background.

Children are young and easily impressed. They should be given role models of the highest character. Parents need to carefully consider whether they would like their children to be around an individual with such a background and around those who support it. One, two, three offenses may show a momentary lack of judgment, but a list of such offenses (and it is my understanding at least one offense was not listed below) shows a consistent lack of judgment. Would you want your children following in his footsteps???

Pipeline and CCR I apologize for going a bit off tangent. Since the mayor in her article is promoting a Santa Party, I find it extremely important parents be aware of the character of those who are currently governing Town Hall. This is not to say all the members on the council are of questionable character or lack prudent judgment; however, birds of a feather....

The Mayor is very sweet and charming lady. She is also an excellent politician in every sense of the term. She can put quite a spin on anything to make it sound wonderful and sweet. In her article, she mentions ordinances are rarely created and only one or two have been passed this year. Now that citizens are watching extremely carefully this year, I would agree the Mayor and Town Council have only passed or attempted to pass a few ordinances. My question is how many did they pass in 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, and 2005? How many of those were due to state legislation? I believe you will find the Mayor and Council have passed many more ordinances than the amount they are implying they have passed over the years. Is it prudent or necessary to pass an ordinance every time someone complains? Is it not a conflict of interest to have a relative of a Council Member sitting on a board which is responsible for creating ordinances? Is it not a conflict of interest to share an attorney with a neighboring city?

The Town's lack of judgment continues with the push from the Mayor and the Town Council to develop private property into a retail center and to establish a police department during the current state of the country's government. Though I might support the matter under a stronger economy, I certainly do not support it under such a weak economy. Short sightedness may very well put our Town in debt beyond that which we can afford.

Currently, as reported it the CTG the average number of days a home is on the market in Copper Canyon is 136 days and 153 days in the coveted area of Lantana. What is the demography of the Town? How many of them are young, working families who may have extra income to support the take base needed for a police force which would include weekly salaries and benefits? How many of them are retired individuals or are on a limited income that may not be able to afford the necessary increase in taxes a dedicated police force would bring? How many additional homes have been built in Copper Canyon over the last two years to help support the increase in taxes? Is there a current problem with the Town's police force or the Denton County Sheriff department?

The argument is that a retail center will bring in additional tax funds to pay for such a venture. This may be true if the economy is strong and individuals are spending money. This is not the case for a weakened economy. The economy has remained weak since 2008 and is continuing to show signs that it is worsening. The US government is not stable and can not afford its debt. Overseas governments are following in our footsteps with Greece and Italy on the verge of failure. Do you really think the US will not be affected by the financial failures of other European governments? Do the Wall Street Protestors indicate a strong and stable financial situation? If individuals do not have jobs to make money in order to spend money, the tax base will not be there to support the Town's plans. The residents of Copper Canyon will be responsible for increased tax burden a dedicated police force and retail establishment would bring during a weak/failing economy. It, in my opinion, is extremely imprudent and shows a clear lack of judgment for the Mayor and Town Council to move forward with obtaining a police department and developing a retail center at this time.

As far as the honesty of the Mayor and Town Council, one only has to remember the Neighborhood Pride Program letter sent to Copper Canyon residents in February. The letter threatened fines for anyone with grass growing over 8 inches or for homes not deemed acceptable. After Town Hall heard the outrage from residents who received the letter, the Mayor quickly clarified that the program was actually a "Yard of the Month" program. You can only put the spin on things so long before individuals begin to see the truth.

The Town Clean Up Day last October, chaired by Marshall Warren, had been very well received. So, I asked Town residents to make suggestions for a possible Neighborhood Pride project. Perhaps a Yard of the Month award or something similar. However, the consensus was that a “Neighborhood Pride” was too much like a Homeowner’s Association.

Help me here folks. Does the letter below which was sent out to every registered voter in Copper Canyon sound anything, and I mean anything, like a "Yard of the Month Award" program???

Dear Great State:

I can see you are not wasting your life being engrossed by the trampy adventures of Paris Hilton and the Kardashian whores. Good for you.

You are paying attention to what counts - the economic collapse of Western Countries. Yeah, 2012 will be tough, and CC will be stuck with that debt related to our town paving projects. That debt will be a mill stone around our collective neck.

Good point about the checkered past of town council members who might be present at the "Santa Party." I had not considered that since it has been some time since I have had Santa lap sitters in my charge. But you raise a valid concern. Parents ought to think twice about taking their children to town sponsored events given the record of one council member (at least one). Lord knows I have no desire to go to town sponsored events.

Thanks for the input and the reminders from the recent past. I wonder what sort of criminal records other council members have. I think that warrants further investigation.
