Copper Canyon $$$

Postby garyb66 » Wed Apr 27, 2011 12:12 pm

Thought I'd throw out my analysis of the Copper Canyon finances for the last 10 years..

Here are the top items for expenditures, I've grouped some items which interested me:

$1,159,296.00 Police/Fire/Ambulance
$1,094,818.00 Road Improvements (years 2004/05) and $568k received from Denton County for this expenditure.
$1,045,571.00 Wages
$515,287.00 Road Maintenance
$355,894.00 Legal Fees
$217,281.00 Building Inspector

Here's the total income and sources (not revenue for 2 years is missing 2002, & 2003)

Here's the first part of expenditures:

Here's a chart showing Property Tax versus the big item expenditures.

Gary i think you should that the road maintance goes to a very small amount under mayor sue watch!

This is the primary reason that the city levys taxes..... remember the city provides no services!

remember police could be handled by the county if we gave up the revenue! and fire/ems is no longer ours!

How do you feel about the current council spending habbits!

I'm not sure what are the options there are for law enforcement now if any besides the sheriff's dept. patrolling CC. I don't think having Double Oak patrol the area is an option any more and if it is I leave that to future council members to hash out.

The numbers seem to show that a good chunk of money was spent in 2004/05 on roads and it looks like the town had to spend at least close to 500k of its own money. So I'm guessing that wiped out whatever stockpile they had??? I know there is a CP fund that was being built up for major road repairs which the bonds offset to get the work done now.

Overall I'd like to see a reduction in spending wherever possible at local, state, and national levels. I think all levels of government need to realize that we can't offer everything to everyone and that government really needs to be limited to the basics.

I can't figure this out. Where is the money going? Are you alleging mismanagement?

With the state of things these days, any official is bound to feel insecure and needing legal advice if they want to turn over in bed. So I do't see that a large legal bill should be an issue.

I think CC should merge with Double Oak. Both seem to be small, want-to-remain-semi-rural communities that resent the large developments adjacent to the that disrupted the rural nature of the area. Merging should avoid a lot of costly overhead.

Pretty simple. CC incorporated to rebuild roads only. Now the money is spent on pet projects, development of private property owned by mayor buddies, alleged property value protection, you name it, waste it. Look at Double Oak. They have only a city sec. on the payroll. A police department (rakes in tons of ticket cash-bastards), total volunteer FD with great trucks and a new building, and taxes half of CC's. sure looks like CC could use a little fiscal guidance. But the CC problems have only developed on mayor sue's watch and the duped council. It has become a fiefdom, with the feudal Lordstress running herd over the serfs. The proletariat, once again being run ruff shod by the petty bourgeoisie.

Talked to someone today that says she called 3 weeks ago to vote for her and are now getting caller ID, just to hide. She will work those phones with a vengeance.

You can run but you cannot hide. Try for distance not direction.
