The Marcus football team came up just short against Mansfield Timberview on Saturday evening at Cowboys Stadium , in spite of a third quarter rally that knotted the game 21-21 heading into the fourth in their area round match up.

Trailing 7-0 at the end of one, Jeff Smiley broke an 86-yard touchdown run to tie the game up for the Marauders. Smiley rushed for 148 yards in the game.

Timberview scored again before the break, and it was 14-7 in favor of the Wolves at half time.

Marcus (10-2, 6-1) again tied the game early in the third quarter on an 8-yard run from Deion Sanders, Jr., but once again Timberview regained the lead.

Cole Erwin then connected with Cade Erwin on a 55-yard touchdown reception to make tie the game 21-21 at the end of three.

Two fourth quarter field goals from the Wolves decided the game, as Timberview won 27-21.

Marcus finished the season as district 8-5A runner ups and bi-district champions.
