Skies the limit for roofing company

How does someone who had never stepped foot on a roof launch and grow a company that specializes in fixing them in just eight years in an area he previously had never lived?

For Randy Eastburg, the secret was long-time success in the used car sales business in his native Albuquerque, New Mexico. When the economy there finally went downhill, he decided to move his wife Lisa and children Brooke and Brad to North Texas and launch a new business.

“I came here and took a chance and it’s been fantastic,” he said. “I knew I could run a business. I had to learn the products and everything and I hired great people.”

Since opening in 2010, Valley Ridge Roofing and Construction has become an $8 million a year company serving the needs of businesses and residences in North Texas. That success helped the avid hockey fan negotiate a deal to become the official roofing contractor for the Dallas Stars in January. The partnership includes former Stars goalie Marty Turco serving as spokesperson for radio and in-arena commercials.

Eastburg initially started in Mansfield but little more than a year later realized the majority of his customers lived and worked further north so he moved to Flower Mound. After leasing at two places for several years, he bought his current building on FM 2499 last year.

“The biggest thing we find is that sometimes you feel like you are going get screwed by people in our business and we’re not like that,” Eastburg said. “They can come here, see our office, see how we do business and you’ll see we’re actually a professional roofing contractor.”

While there, customers can meet Eastburg and Lisa, who helps in the office. They also can talk to general manager Karl Sydow who leads eight full-time employees plus 7-8 salespeople. Valley Ridge Roofing and Construction typically works on about 30 commercial jobs at a time and up to 80 residential homes during the peak storm season.

“We’re locally owned. We live in Flower Mound. Our office is in Flower Mound,” Eastburg said. “I want to be your Flower Mound, Lantana, Highland Village, Lewisville roofing contractor.”
