Newspaper to host candidate forums

Early voting begins April 23 for the May 5 municipal and school board elections across southern Denton County and The Cross Timbers Gazette will host two candidate forums next week to help voters make informed choices.

A Highland Village City Council candidate forum will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, April 16, at Highland Village City Hall, 1000 Highland Village Road.

The forum will be televised live and rebroadcast on Highland Village Television, the city’s government access cable channel.

There are three contested races in Highland Village; City Council Place 1 (Mayor), Place 2 and Place 6.

Flower Mound candidates will participate in a forum on Wednesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at Flower Mound Town Hall, 2121 Cross Timbers Road.  Lewisville ISD candidates are also invited and will address the public at the beginning of the forum.

The event will be televised live and rebroadcast on FMTV, the town’s government access cable channel.

The mayor, Place 2 and Place 4 council seats have drawn multiple candidates.

Longtime Flower Mound resident and newspaper columnist Bob Weir will moderate both forums.

The public is invited to submit questions for the candidates in advance to [email protected]. Questions should be worded in a general way so all candidates can respond to them.

Those attending the events will also have the opportunity to submit questions for the candidates.
