by Madhuri Bandla

Navneeta Khemka, a resident of Flower Mound since 2015, is an award-winning artist and RJ (radio jockey) who plays Bollywood music for FunAsia, DFW’s leading channel for the South Asian community.

After a degree in fashion merchandising from Fashion Institute of Technology, New York and a stint at Ann Taylor, Navneeta moved to DFW in 2012.

Navneeta’s creativity took shape in the form of fine contemporary art, specifically acrylic and oil paintings. She also works in a unique classical art form from 17th century India called Tanjore art. This art form incorporates 22 karat gold foil with intricate embellishments in semi-precious stones, which give an exquisite 3D effect.

She has participated in local art festivals and won several awards in the Metroplex including Honorable mention by the Visual Arts Society of Texas (VAST) at the 2017 12th Annual, Visual Arts Exhibition, Denton, for her acrylic painting ‘The Musician Man.’ Her works of art can be viewed at navneetakhemka.com.

Navneeta believes there is art in every heart! She inspires adults and kids of all ages to ignite their creative spark. Art Corner is her entrepreneurial venture through which she conducts workshops and themed-art parties for adults and kids of all ages.

Navneeta is now passionately working on her first solo exhibition themed “Sound of Music” at the Irving Art Association, from April 28 through May 24. She will showcase around 30 original paintings of contemporary Indian art. During her exhibition, Navneeta will give a demo to local artists in Dallas on how Tanjore art can be incorporated into any art style.

All are welcome to attend her exhibition and get a feel for her creative and distinctive renditions.
