Denton County sergeant arrested after allegedly soliciting a child online

A Denton County Sheriff’s Office patrol sergeant was arrested this week after he allegedly solicited a child online, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Sgt. West Jordan was arrested Tuesday by officials in the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit and faces a charge of online solicitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, according to the Denton County Sheriff’s Office.

Jordan has been terminated by the DCSO.

“I am shocked and ashamed by the arrest of one of our own for such a horrible crime,” said Sheriff Tracy Murphree in a prepared statement. “Criminal actions by those sworn to serve and protect will not be tolerated. He has brought dishonor to his profession and to this office.”

Jordan’s book-in photo was not made immediately available by authorities.
