Weir: Seniors rock for Houston Flood Relief

Columnist Bob Weir

As our prayers go out to the people of south Texas who have been ravaged by Hurricane Harvey it’s important to remember that they’re still suffering from the aftermath as they try to get their lives back together after so much loss.

Here in Flower Mound, our own Seniors in Motion (SIM), at 2701 W. Windsor, is doing their part to help. On Thursday, Sept. 14, from 7 to 9 p.m., SIM is holding a benefit concert featuring The Connections Band. Rock out to the 80’s and help raise money for The Houston Flood Relief Fund. The concert is free and open to the public, ages 21 and over, with opportunities to donate, including a raffle.

This event is being sponsored by Avanti Senior Living at Flower Mound, iCare Rehabilitation Hospital, Pinewood Hills, Overture Flower Mound, Caring Transitions and A Place for Mom.

SIM is an organization of citizens over 50 years of age which recognizes the value seniors contribute to our town and strives to provide resources that enable the continuation of full, active, health and happy lives. SIM fosters a sense of community where seniors connect with others who share similar interests: plan and implement meaningful contributions to the community; participate in opportunities for personal growth; and experience genuine caring, support and friendship.
