Flower Mound police offering free digital child ID kits Thursday

The Flower Mound Police Department is offering a service Thursday that could potentially help authorities in their search for a missing child.

The department is offering free digital child ID kids for any residents who want FMPD to have as much information about their child as possible in the event that the child goes missing.

For each child’s ID kit, police will gather the child’s name, address, birth date, any medical conditions, a current photo and fingerprints. Children as young as infants can have a kit made.

“If ever needed, this important tool will give authorities vital information to assist their efforts to locate a missing child,” the department wrote on social media on Wednesday.

The department will be at the Flower Mound Public Library from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday to make the ID kits. The FMPD Facebook post said the ID kits will be available at a weekend event later this month, and more details about that event will be released later.
