Property tax valuations up sharply

Hooray, hooray … the lovely month of May. That time of year when gardens begin to bloom, the evening air is soft and mailboxes contain the annual property valuations from the Denton or Tarrant County Appraisal District. Yippee!

Property owners have recently received the much-anticipated notice of preliminary valuations. Most recipients don’t jump up-and-down with glee when they open the envelope.

For that reason, the Denton Central Appraisal District has launched an online protest filing system for eligible property owners: https://appeals.dentoncad.com/

If the notice contains no specific deadline to file a protest, it must be filed by May 31, or no later than 30-days after the date on the notice; whichever is later.

If you have any question at all, the absolute quickest way to get an answer is through the Helpdesk: dentoncad.com/helpdesk.

Those having a residential property– and don’t have a tax agent representing them for property tax matters– may be eligible to file a protest online, upload evidence, view District evidence and schedule or reschedule a formal protest hearing. They may also have the opportunity to accept or decline a value settlement offer from the District.

Using this system, property owners are no longer required to visit the Appraisal District to appeal their property value. Excluding the Appraisal Review Board hearing, the entire process can be completed from home.
