Senior’s humility speaks volumes

Abby Weatherford

Abby Weatherford does not like to talk about herself much, but that does not really matter—her accomplishments speak for themselves.

An honor roll student at Coram Deo Academy, the Flower Mound teen serves as First Lieutenant of the CDA band, where she plays the French Horn; as well as Secretary for the House of Wright, which is part of Coram Deo’s student government.

Weatherford, 18, is also a member of the Coram Deo tennis team, and said that being so involved has allowed her to get to know a lot of people.

“I like getting to know students from other grades that I would not ordinarily see,” Weatherford said. “As a senior, most of the people I see regularly in my school day are also upperclassmen. But through band and tennis I’ve met many younger students. I really enjoy being able to talk to and get to know them.”

Weatherford said she feels fortunate to attend Coram Deo, because of the quality of education she has received; as well as the individual attention available to students.

“I like the small class sizes,” Weatherford said. “Because my classes are small, I have gotten to know my classmates and teachers well. The teachers at CDA are amazing—they will do whatever they can to help you.”

Weatherford also volunteers in the nursery and children’s programs at her church, plus babysits for a few families in the area in her free time.

“Life is an adventure and I’ll never know for sure where I am headed,” Weatherford said. “But, along the way, I’d like to help others out and repay some of the kindness that has been shown to me.”

Weatherford plans to attend either Baylor University or Stephen F. Austin in the fall and has not yet decided on a major.
